Rockit 5 - Feature Requests

Easy enough currently Dave :)

Play Now:

If you need a song immediately, you right click and choose Sample in Jukebox. Jukebox is the same as a normal deck -- just less controls available (same with Effects deck).

Play Next:

Drop the track into the AutoMix Queue, click AutoMix on, and when the current track ends, the other will mix in. AutoMix will automatically turn itself off, unless you have more tracks in it's queue. That places you back in manual mode.

Rick, I'm not quite clear on your play now feature....
What Dave is saying is that when you select play now, it's like an immediate mix to the new song.... What I read from your discription, is your play now doesn't fade out the current track, and your play now is more like inserting a sound effect... playing over top of the current track...

Is that a proper assessment? or am I reading it wrong?

Perhaps a better discription of what dave is asking for is a right click "mix now" option.

In that case, Rockit has Mix commands -- mix left, mix right, and mix next.

Either way, it works out to two mouse clicks. Let's say you need to yank in a song that is not already in a deck, and mix to it:

Grab song with left button and drop on non-playing deck, click mix next. Rockit will start the mix.

I suppose I could put another command in the context menu that automates that, but to me, it doesn't save any effort on the users end, and adds more overhead by having to display the context menu (more CPU intensive than a drag and drop op)... :dontknow:

I'll put it in the notebook and try it, and see if it helps. :)

BTW, just to add -- if you double-click a song in the list while a deck is playing, the song will automatically load to the available (non-playing) deck, then hit mix next.

For those who may not like DnD. :)

Wow! I never knew about that double-click feature - thanks Rick!

My one request - whenever a list comes up, it's sorted by song title. I'd prefer if we could choose how it sorts in config. Me, I like by artist....this coming from the former last name first dude....

I second that request, I'd like to have this ability also in the Playlists --- to be able to dump my songs into it and then sort as I see fit and then save.

Well, I can see wanting it in the main list, and that is doable (although a lot of work on my part -- there are quite a number of dependencies).

As for a playlist, you can do that easily:

Highlight the playlist you want, and it will display in the main list. Sort by what you want, right click, select all, and dump into a queue. Right click the queue, and save as new playlist. Viola -- you have your sorted playlist! :)

Use the interface dudes -- just need to learn how to work it

Like I want to do that each time I add a new song to a playlist.

You asked for feature requests, don't give me the run down on how I can do it current state. :sqwink:

You get sooo cranky in the winter Randy... :sqlaugh:

Here's what I do:

During the winter months, I stand in a south facing window for 15 minutes per day -- which is enough sun to build some Vitamin D.

Lack of Vitamin D (which can only be made by the body in sunlight), is the main factor for SAD.

Grab a beer after you fix yer playlists, and stand in front of a south facing window. All will be well

Note the smilies.....I'm trying to use them more effectively. :sqembarrassed:

Nothing you would like. :sqwink:

Hell, I'm drinking Busch Light tonight :sqerr: :sqeek:

Granted, there's a bit of rum and Jack on hand, to spruce it up a bit... :)

BTW, I put it in the notebook, and will see what I can do -- since some of you are lazier than I... :D

Well, I could send my 6 month old Coors Light your way....can you tell I don't drink much. :sqwink:

Actually, I used your little tip and have successfully resaved my current playlists in the order I wanted them (since I know most of my requests go to the bottom of the page).

Thank you!

I noticed that in the main playlist window, clicking on column headers (title/artist/genre/bpm) only sorts one way. It would be really handy to have it sort both ascending and descending each time you click on it and switch to the other each time.

At least in the trial version its not doing that....

Having the ability to save the history up closing as an option, instead of all the time. Also, with the ability to name the file.

When I'm @ home just messin', I don't care to have that in my history list & naming it upon closing would help me pull it later if needed (I tend to remember the party by names instead of dates).

The ability to edit the song tag in skin mode or from the pop up window.

The ability to hide columns (suppose I only want to show title/artist?). Also, auto fit columns to frame size.

1) Already there, look in the Config->General page -- you can turn it off.
2) Right click on the history list in question, and rename it.

1) Already there, right click and choose Track Properties.
2) Already there, just squeeze it to nothing if you want it hidden.
3) What frame size?
