BTW, I've noted of late, that a large number of customers, are now using netbooks as backups. I even use one to run my entire business now.

Not the biggest speed demons on the planet, but a Hell of a lot lighter than a dual CD deck, and a crate full of CDs ;)

Papa,

That's why I have my players as my back-up (until I get a new lappy as one). I hand picked the 'Best of .....' and duplicated them into a set, so if I wanted to play back and forth off of them I could. They stay with me in my lappy bag at all times. You know how many times I've used them........zilch, notta, none, never......well, I did once but that's because I wanted too. Point being, I was scared as hell to make the switch, but did and have not regretted it.

Supposedly, more powerful ones for the same price are really close... I'm thinking by May I will own one.... and use it for Bubble Parties.

Depends on what you set them to in Rockit...

I don't provide a list of hot keys, because they are user mappable. Then, you map the Xkeys to whatever you used. I honestly don't even know where my XKeys test unit is -- I haven't used it in years, and I doubt the version of their software I have, would even work on Vista 64...
 
I will say this. The key mapping detailed descriptions in the V4.2 beta make it a whole heck of a lot easier to configure your keyboard strokes.

Being a reception jock, I don't see any need for a Denon MIDI controller.

A good keyboard and maybe an X Key stick should be sweet!

Goodbye DAC 2!

Once you've completed your keyboard shortcuts, just use the same keystroke combo for the X Key stick buttons you have.

Unofficial release notes (otherwise known as -- what I remembered to write down, that I changed) :D


What made it in to this release:

  • 18 Skins included, some old, some new.
  • Clock control. Only on a couple of skins at this point.
  • Uptime control (see above).
  • CPU Meter (see above). The meter only reads Rockit's CPU usage, not the entire system.
  • I put the check for updates button back in the Config.
  • The mixer has been redone, and that is now where you change your sound card mappings.
  • Deck drop zones now follow skin movements.
  • Drag and reorder in all queues, and the playlist editor.
  • Much faster load of library on startup.
  • 2 additional decks (on one skin only - RM-4).
  • Remember main list column order.
  • New functions in the Add Wizard, to add only MP3 files and ignore WAVs, and only add new files found on drive/folders.
  • New menus.
  • All menus have been updated, included context menus.
  • Popup windows remember their size and position.
  • Function to turn off fader when running AutoMix -- keeps the crossfader centered.
  • Pitch percent display.
  • You can now double-click results in the Advanced Search, and they load just like the main track list.
  • etc...

What didn't make this release:

  • Keylock -- don't have access to the decoder source, so I was unable to get it to work clean enough. This will have to wait until the decoder changeover... Sorry Booch -- I tried my best, and gave it 2 months of my life, but it was just not stable enough, without access to the innards...
 
2 thumbs up 5 stars for version 4.2,and 10 stars for Ricks customer service.guys i had a problem with install and he was there to help me through it,thanks for a great program and great cutomer service too.

maybe i cant put you in the hollywood walk of fame but you are #1 in my book when it comes to your business.its very few who take the time and effort to make sure customers are satisfied,thanks again.

where was i now,oh i need to go and get myself familiar with 4.2

You can size them the way you want, and move them around -- 4.2 remembers all.

Steve, I think Rockit needs to do its own reading for BPM.

Come to think of it, the one for VDJ, was written by a user ;)

Dunno...? About 80% of mine show non-zero... YMMV.

Too much Canadian music, eh...? :D


Edit: If you mean you scanned them with VDJ, I don't think VDJ saves them in the tags like Rockit does. :)
 
I've put an update to the manual on the website a few minutes ago (although none of you will probably read it)... :sqerr: :sqlaugh:

I'll be putting out a full skin reference, and full command reference, in the coming weeks. I'm also building a new remote request client for Rockit, and probably a remote control app as well, that hopefully will work on an iPod Touch or iPhone (if I can figure out how to program the silly things)... :)

Not really -- if the info is in the tags (note importance of using tags Cap ;)), Rockit will read them just dandy :)

If you use the BPM scanner in Rockit, it will save that data to the tags -- not our library database -- so they will be available to any program that can read tags.


It's really a wonderful program, now that I think about it :sqbiggrin: :sqcool:
