Rick,

With all the effort you've been putting into 4.2, how in the h*ll did you find the time to take up knitting? That's one helluva start to a sweater!

Midi controller

Rick,

What brand of midi controller should I get to control all 4 channels on the new version?

None -- the MIDI subsystem in Rockit, can only control the two main decks.

The two additional decks, are for specialized skins and applications, and hence, do not have the complete functionality of the two master decks. If you notice from the skin above, they do not have their own queues either.

They can be assigned to the crossfader though, if needed.

4 Audio Outs

Rick,

I just want to clerify, Can you have 4 channels playing at the same time with 4 independant outputs using the new gigaport? Thanks

I don't have a Giga HD, although I've been told by a good source, that they will show up as separate outputs, if the drivers are loaded properly.

I've asked if anyone could verify this result, but nobody has gotten back to me yet.

If you have one, you could easily tell in Rockit's trial, by going into the Audio Deck Properties in the Config, and seeing if they show as separate outs...

I'd be interested in knowing. I'm not gonna buy one, because of the bad experiences I've had with them in the past, and their driver issues. Plus, I think they are way overpriced.

See below, and above ;)

The beta is out there, shouldn't be much longer...

BTW, only two of the 18 skins that are shipping -- have the clock. Most are set to leave the Windows Taskbar exposed, which has the clock on it anyway. It's extra overhead to have the clock on the skin, as a timer has to be polled every 500 milliseconds -- same with the new Uptime and CPU meter.

Personally, I would use a skin that leaves the Taskbar exposed, and Rockit will use less CPU time, by not having the clock on the skin ;) :)

Coming soon -- to a computer near you... :sqcool:

I just love this skin -- sorta makes DJ'ing fun again

That looks sweet! And if I can get it to work, it is probably what I would use.

That was actually designed as sort of a jukebox skin...

I pretty much designed it for the HP TouchSmart, which are wide, touch screens. Although it works pretty well with a mouse too :)

On the touch screens, it's much easier to drag or click the icons in the list with your finger, then a regular list (you can toggle that though -- list/icon view). You can toggle that in any skin now, although obviously, it is a bit more CPU intensive for the graphics in icon mode.

I figured that.... but I use Rockit during cocktails and dinner. I use CDs during dancing....

Ya see what happens? Rick gets a Mac and starts using their UI. :D I really love Mac's UI, I honestly think that's the best thing about Mac IMHO.

Anyways that skin looks awesome! If I ever get into the DJ world again and decide to go digital Rockit's first on my list. :)

Yer loss Son... :sqwink:

You know me and computers by now.... we don't play well together. If I honestly felt like my computer wouldn't crash - I always feel that way at events - I would use it for a whole event.
