This is a compilation of two post made on another forum. Perhaps this will cause the vehemence and hysteria here on OurDJTalk to rise to unprecedented levels ever experienced in DJ forum-land.
Colleagues : Perhaps there is something intrinsically being overlooked and it's one of those "like it or not, it's here" impact observations.
Reading the book, then watching three of Peter's book promos on three major market TV stations, his brief yet powerful message is getting out there where the business relies...the client. While the DJ community cannot seem to rally around anything meaningful, his message to our earnings base is getting out there, and to hundreds at at a time, who will talk to a lot of folks, who will spread the word to thousands more.
More impressively, regardless of how one feels about Peter the person, is the remarkable interest the TV interviewers showed in listening to Peter's message. Their genuine innocent and first hand questions and observations play perfectly into Peter's plan which he manipulates masterfully.
Like it or not, burying the head in the sand and pretending it doesn't exist, blasting away, DJs have an emerging and potentially powerful spokesperson, with or without your personal blessing.
Scary? Regardless of what side of the alleged fence one sits, it could very much be so...or...maybe not.
Having studied and gained experience under Mark Ferrell with GWYW and then ADJA with Dr. Draxx, he's taken then next logical evolutionary step and individual approach that addresses DJs who are constantly crying out "What's in it for me? What's in it for me?".
This time the [his] response is..."Nothing for you, nothing free that is!"
"What do you mean, it's not free!! Turncoat, coward, money grubber, industry dividerer, elitist, liar, backstabber, con-man."
Amazingly, this someone is willing to hoist the middle finger directly in the face of this outcry, the copy-cut-paste mentality, and take the case to the clients direct.
That's the message. But...then there's the messenger.
Better be able to separate the two. Told ya so (six years ago)!
