I have a bride on April 6th who I sub contracted to do the reception for. I met with her and the bride and groom yesterday. They want some interactive activities to get folks going.

I do some standard ones that I do, but she has seen them all and wants different things

What I presented to her was

2 reasons why the bride and groom make a good couple
Newly wed game
and anniversary dance

I usually do not do a lot of these so any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Games can add fun and it can also be a killer so be careful.

I know, that is why I came here to ask... She was very adamant about having them.

I feel your pain. Shoe Game and Anniversary dance are about the only things I'll do at a wedding. Too many games rolls into the cheeseball territory really quickly and frankly, the other stuff I've tried just fell flat. It's times like this that I'll put the ball back in the bride's court and let her make suggestions on the games, right after I explain to her why the above two are the only ones I'll normally do. When you explain to them, politely/diplomatically, they usually back off their demands. Hope she doesn't hammer you on this one. It could potentially put you in a no-win situation.

Just let her know that. To me Games can be competition for the time when people should be enjoying themselves Dancing and really enjoying themselves. That to me is more interactive. Do switching dance partners during the dance or something.

If it's a buffet serviced event, try the "sing a line from a song with the word love in it" routine.

An entire table stands up...music off...they sing that one line emphasizing the word love...and they get to go up to the buffet line...but only IF the audience (by their applause) thinks they did well enough.

Granted, it's not applicable to every event, but in the right one AND after explaining it and getting a client's approval, it can be a really fun way to release tables to the buffet.

Just as Canute and Rick said, it could actually do more harm than good.
Try breaking down the time frame of the evening.
After you add up time needed for cocktail hour, dinner, formal dances, cake cutting, etc...
average the time needed for each game, multiplied by how many games she wants....
and show her that would only leave _____ minutes for dancing.
Then ask her, "Do you want your guests to dance, or play games all night?"

At the very least, have her agree to a "bail out" clause.
If the games just aint working, you reserve the right to bail out and switch to music.

Dance, drink, repeat, don't do it! LOL Seriously, shoe game, anniversary dance can work but in all honesty people aren't there to play games, they are there to party, it's in your best interest to convince the bride of this. Let us know how it works out

sometimes according to the crowd and bride and groom, i spring on them the who's the boss routine, right after the garter, you have a chair there so its the best time, I announce, that well w ehave gotten married doen the bouquet, garter, now its time to get down to business, whos gonna do laundry, take out the trash, dishes, yard work etc, make it as long or short as you want, then start a song they go around the chair til you stop the music, its gts everybody hyped, I try to stop it where the bride gets the chair, but a lot of times they both end up in it on one anothers kap, it works pretty good

Try the old "Bachelor pad Key routine"

I used to do this 15+ yrs. ago.
I have started doing it again & it it is a huge hit (younger folks have never seen it before)
Anyone else remember this "bit"?

Also...for the Newlywed game try using the bride & groom rubber ducks (sold at Party City)
or the Barbie & Ken (bride & groom) dolls.

Whatever they hold up needs to be able to be seen/distingished by all the guests around the room.
Holding up a small paddle or sign that says "bride" or "Groom" may not be seen by guests unless they are 2 different colors.
