Hmm...I asked dmx soft if I can use my sushi-DS with mydmx...this is the answer I got...a yes I think?

I'll have to read and do some 'activation' to see what ahppens.

The tablet s'posed to arrive tomorrow...so I should know soon enough.

Hello

Your DMX interface is a SUSHI-DS
This is just USB, not WIFI !

With IPAD
If you want to use Light Rider on an iPad tablet,
This is not possible to use with your DMX interface
Because the iPad do not have a USB port
you need to buy the Light Rider LR512 Wifi Dmx Interface.

With ANDROID (USB + WIFI)
You can use your DMX interface and you need :
- an android tablet or amazon tablet
- an OTG USB cable to connect the USB DMX interface
- to activate/buy the Light Rider licence

Some links to understand :

I believe Mike gave this method a try and ran into the issue of needing to pay a yearly premium for the software.... it seems like so many moving parts and a hassle to me...but ofcourse im just lazy and paranoid about this sort of thing... the adj unit is just a great "works right out of the box" way to go.

i do highly recommend those and other tutorials on the lightrider app... they taught me everything i know on the subject

I recall reading some of those posts. Seemed complicated to me at the time.

The software is full use for free for 30 days. I was using the demo of the other software for 3 years now...if you're not online it's not counting 30 days. You do have to go online every 1080 hours of use...so potentially you don't pay till you've got 30,000 hours of use...and if you have to pay it's $17 a year.

it's going to be tethered from the tablet to the sushi and it needs a power source...so not nearly as convenient as wifi wireless. And if I didn't already have the donner it would be a good deal over all.

I can sell my donner easily enough - once i determine the issue. A reset or something I'm sure will do it. It's connecting to itself, just not talking to the comptuer/sushi.

Fear of MORE 2.4ghz may be a concern. I got wirless for my speakers and 2 sets of microphones , both being 2 mic setups. The newer one loses a channel when the speaker system is running. No bleeding or nasty sounds, just one mic channel is dead. ONLY when the wireless speaker is on. I'm sure I can hop frequencies to fix this..just haven't bothered to try yet. the second mic setup is for ceremonies and so fare haven't used the wireless for that.

Reviews of the sushi/lightrider software and lightrider itself pulls up commentsthat some people have issues with fixtures acting up...which I have now. I suppose that's a dmx thing overall??

Bad cable, routing of signal cables too close to power cords..cheap chinese soldering...diff dmx boards' programming/timing, etc?

One of my pars quit working (responding to dmx). Changed it's channel and it works fine...who knows. I had a obey 40 controller and it did nothing on one my lights...when I got the sushi it worked perfectly. Hmm...

Off to drink heavily...been one of those days. YOu want fun, get a PT job driving a school bus! If the kids don't do you in, the other drivers on the road will.

Yeah, my problem turned out to be the license.
All of the issues I had with the "moving parts" were NOT due to the "parts".

When I first downloaded the LightRider app, the license was free.
By the time I got my OTG cable a month later, it was only free for 30-days...so my time had already elapsed.

The GOOD news is, I found that LightRider DOES have a lifetime license for $49.
So, I may just go with the LightRider version until I can afford to buy the ADJ version.
But since it's the SAME app, with the same functions...
I may just buy a 1-year license, and see how I like it before spending more money

If it's the same app then go for it. That interface is the best I've ever seen and is perfect for mobile DJ use.

SCREW IT!
I just paid $17 for a year license.
I will work with what I have this season,
and I'll decide whether to switch and buy the ADJ unit after I play with it for a year!
(maybe they won't be on back-order by then)

Update: Got to use myDmx Go again this afternoon (I'm already home at 7:20p). Wasn't a lot of point to using dance lights (this was the no dancing, wedding), but I went ahead and setup it up anyways. 2 Chauvet 255 movers with Chauvet mini colorstrips with Donner wireless DMX. Worked like a champ and easy, easy, easy. Next week I'm going to add ADJ TriPhase fixtures to each tree and see what it will do. This was SUCH a great investment.

I have them addressed as 50 and 54 and I can manually do whatever with them through LR. I can't get them to automatically match the color with the other lights though.

Probably because the logic most likely favors RGBWAV in their own channels, and the colorstrip has (non-standardly) all colors on channel 1 and only in 10% jumps. Doesn't handle color on my Inno Pocket Scan either, since the color is matched to a gobo. I can change the gobo/color manually, but it stays white in auto.

from the post in the other thread it would appear in the profile builder you can re-map fixtures so that other LR controls will take action.

My mini-kinta has movement (rotating lights) and does nothing. I bet I can remap that to the moving side and it will be great.

Why they wouldn't 'see' this and do it as part of the standard profile I don't know.

The thing id love to see is a way to create chases of the presets.... would be so nice to hit one button and let this baby run through presets on shuffle all night...sans the slow dances
