ok as most of you know i am in the market for a pair of single pair of speakers..i
was going for the peavey implse 1015s but also how about the qsc k12s? i have never used powered speakers. which ones would you all choose? these would be used for small events..

There are some pros and cons to every component.
A passive speaker is one component that requires one input source namely the amp's output.
An active speaker has two components, an onboard amp and speaker(s) which requires two input sources. An AC hookup and an incoming signal source to operate. You have to run two cables. Bear in mind where the AC receptacles are going to be located. when one component goes you have two components down. If the speakers are not within sight then how will you know when the onboard amp is clipping etc!
If you plan on having your speakers on either side of your table then I guess I have nothing further to add other than get the right tools for the job.

thanks for the info..these speakers will be next to my table side by side.. then later on thinking of getting a sub for them but will they be ok as a stand alone for small gigs? i would say about 150 or so ?

Those FBTs cost a fortune...at LEAST twice the cost of the K12s. For that kind of money, I would be looking at the ZXa5 instead of the FBT. Trying to do 150 people in a room with just one pair (of K12s) would be pushing the limits of the speakers. 2 pair, or one pair with subs...no problem.

i plan on getting subs for them but not now..how would these do for house parties aswell?

I use the K12's as well for small and mid size party's without any problems. The '1000' watt amp is a bit misleading - it's really (2) 500 watt amps - but they do perform well.

I was afraid that you would say this! We will have to exorcise you!
