The public forgets stuff like that and sometimes it's just a matter of finding the right songs, hooking up with the right producer and just having good timing (ask Fergie). If Nicole's next solo project is at least as popular as the current PCD release, she'll make a little bit of money on it and won't have to split the royalties.
 
I so hope this is true. I can't stand them. We made the mistake of getting ahold of their first cd and it was something like 5 songs and the rest crappy covers. If they break up I say thank goddness.

But then again, I guess it really has been that way all along - that for every artist or true talent, there are a dozen schlubs being marketed as product. I guess it's nothing new. :sqlaugh:

What days were those?

Nicole definitely has some vocal skills, but in pop music you absolutely need the right beats to stand out. Case in point: Leona Lewis had a huge hit last year and is completely off the map now. Her follow-up singles have been pretty weak.

LOL... I already corrected myself and said its been that way all along.

In the end we're talking about different things... I'm lamenting about about the ratio of music as ART vs Pop-music/Product in the popular consciousness.

Everything these people are producing is disposable and will wash away just as quickly as it came with no musical legacy or relevance whatsoever....

I think Nicole can make it, if she gets with the right folks. Something about her voice and inflection...

Musical talent is nice, but it has been, and always will be about who will stand out and sell records. If there is talent there, that's just a bonus.
