Printer question ~ WWYD?

Lou the pages that I show give you all the info on how many pages they print out per cartridge ...

thats why now I would still buy a new printer it being a laser or a injet.


as for the laser cartridge it is its shown

I guess I was referring to the more of the functionality end of a new higher end laser printer.

Also, some laser printers (mine included) come with a "starter" cartridge, meaning a limited amount of toner comes with the unit. But yea, I just figured it would be cheaper and better in the long run to buy a higher end laser once, then find a good deal on compatible cartridges down the road.

I remember awhile back HP came out with a line of printers called Apollo. They were about $30 at Walmart/Walgreens and they had your choice of 5 colors! LOL

im no printer expert but we have one of those big Dell Lasers and it works great. We print a crap load of stuff 150-200 pages per weekend and I replace the toner once every six weeks

I've been in the same boat regarding printers - I have an Epson that's lasted me at least 5 years, but I don't do much color printing. My Minolta laser printer got used more often, but started showing signs of old age and a new toner cartridge was going to run me at least $70. With no guarantees that the printer itself would outlast the cartridge, I decided to just buy a new laser printer.

For $89, this one's the best deal around (and last week it was $99 - the price I paid):

It's quick, the starter cartridge is good for 1000 pages, and the built-in wireless networking is a great feature - the only thing this printer is wired to is the wall and I can print to it from any of my 3 computers. If color doesn't matter, this one's worth looking into. Brother makes a quality product. A toner cartridge refill (2500 pages) goes for around $44.

If, by not refilling, you mean at home, I agree. However, Walgreens will refill ANY black & white for $10, and color for $15. The drawback there is the refill is usually slightly less than ink than the original.

You would come out cheaper buying a laser printer toner is usually cheaper than ink.
 
I've mentioned this before... Lexmark has the highest cost per page to print in the printer industry. I've actually not taken them when offered for free.

We have an Epson RS300 or RSM 300... we buy generic cartridges in bulk.... we pay like $1.75 for black, and $4 for color. The printer is good, but not awesome... but it is one helluva workhorse.

I don't even consider myself "green", but that idea really bothers me..... there is only so much the landfills can handle...

Very true but whats better the higher cartridge that can outlast the printer or a new printer for 1/2 the price
