Wireless MICs in Canada

Received this email today regarding hte Wireless MICs that I have
All are AKG and run in the 700 freq range...


Hello ****,

I'm the AKG guy here at Soundcraft Canada's head office. I was forwarded your e-mail expressing your concern about the new laws on Wireless mics.

To date, I have not heard of any frequency becoming baned in Canada (with the exception of a new station in BC). From what I have learned, Feb 17 '09 will be the day US TV goes digital.

Digital TV will not be in effect in Canada until August 2011 and perhaps as late as 2012, therefore, until that happends, there should not be anything to be concerned about as per wireless frequencies.

I will be keeping my information on the matter as up to date as possible so that when I discover anything new I will let you know.

Well Al, the good news is that it sounds like they won't be illegal to use. I don't know what issues you'll run into with higher power US frequencies hitting you in London. I would guess that you're probably safe. If you're happy with the mics, perhaps just hold on until you need to make a change.
