Dennis may know this but I'm trying to find out if there is any way to make my game show softwares portable to thumb drive.

:sqerr: Yer a game Show Addict aren't ya? There is medication fer that yer know! :sqlaugh:

There is a way, but its not an easy job unless you know how to make the software portable - you cant just copy the directory from the system to the thumb drive

if you really need it done then you better send an email and ask real nice and i'll see what can be done!

have a nice day

now just waiting for pm

Thumb drives are huge these days... couldn't you just install the game to a thumb drive and just plug it in to whatever computer and run it?

Not really most installers throw stuff all around your computer. Not to mention registry changes which won't be on another computer and will make the program fail to run.

Unless a program comes direct from the manufacturer in a portable format, they are usually hacked/cracked versions. Many contain malware and trojans as well, that are used for DoS attacks.

Unless you get a program direct from the manu in a portable version -- best bet is to stay away from them.

Actually Rick no they are not - you can do them when you buy them you just have to know how

and that u3 isnt as good as you think

try it and it may not let you use it on a thumb drive

Sarge,

I thought you sitting on the park bench with a popcorn box on your lap inviting women to have some was your portable game show?:sqerr:

while i'm sure it's possible for his game piece to be confused for a thumb drive i'm sure that's not really what we need to know. ;)

Lucky for him he only needs a pen to poke a hole in the bottom of the popcorn box to make his game work.:sqeek:

Nope. All of the application files used are not usually stored in the application's directory. Most windows applications install .dlls (and other files) into the windows' system folders (i.e. it's tied to that particular machine). Now if you installed the application to multiple machines and used a thumb drive for holding game setup info, that might work (no guarantees).

Rick that will never work

I can guarentee that you would never be able to use it that way

it installs files all over the place

now if you really want to test out what a portable version can do go and grab the freeware version of an image viewer
