Hey Folks,
In a post offered by Josh Lafave (Hello, and new DJ in need of Top 3 Advice Tips - Our DJ Talk - DJ Help and Resources Chat!), Josh asks for the top 3 tips for getting biz for a new Deej. [By the way, Josh, I'm in the same boat.] Dogman responded w/ a suggestion to hit up the event venues in the area and initiate a relationship w/ them.
My question has less to do w/ Josh's question and Dogman's response. But it is relevant. I am wondering what kind of reaction a venue manager or a wedding consultant will give me when I answer their first question, "How much experience do you have?" I will have to answer, "Um...well...this is my innaugural year...but...."
I started in April of this year and have had about 15 gigs so far. I have also assisted as an unpaid apprentice at several weddings. So I'm not totally inexperienced. But it will reflect on the manager and on the wedding consultant if they recommend me to a bride or to a corporate rep. So I am assuming when I say I have limited experience, they will find a nice way to dismiss me as a viable option for them.
Your responses, please?
Thanks,
--Will
