Since I like your new avatar so much Chuck, I might even throw in the Traktor LE version that came with it too -- since the damn thing can't seem to mow my grass without a dongle...
Seriously. I do like rockit a lot. It isn't my "perfect" software, but no software will ever be that for me. But where else can you find the developer who is willing to answer phone calls DIRECTLY to help you... AND supports one of your favorite DJ sites.

If I may get somewhat serious (as much as I am able to):
Rockit's not for everyone. It is designed by me, and most of my almost 30 years of DJ'ing was weddings, so it leans heavily in that area. I concentrate on making it easy, so you can schmooze the guests; stable, so you can sleep well; and support (unless it's late at night, and even then, I will pick up the phone for emergencies).
It's not for the wiki-wiki bedroom type DJ -- it is designed from the ground up to fulfill a particular purpose, and do that well.
The new version coming out, follows that trend, but allows the users much more flexibility in designing their own interface, adding or removing things they want, using various controllers, etc.
It's basically a wish list of what my customers have been asking for, for the last few years. I don't usually get calls because something broke, they're just usually, can you add this, or that...
I don't overhype the product prior to release, as things may change last minute on particular features, in order to retain the stability that has become our trademark. So, you won't see much on actual features, until it releases.
I did give Papa the option of using sliders instead of knobs though
There are some really cool features, that I only share with customers as well (hidden features on the new version).
I accept bribes as well, erm, tips I meant I get cakes, pies and Christmas cards from many customers every holiday season. In return, I answer their call at zero-dark-thirty in the morning

Rick, I'm sold! I do all my mixing with my Dual MP3 player anyway (I like having hands on control over the effects)
What I need is something stable, stable and stable. I use it for requests and weddings. I don't need any bells and whistles.

If you like what you see now, you will probably like the new version much more. If you buy now, you get the upgrade free (which can run alongside the current version, so you can switch gradually).
If you buy later, you pay the full price (whatever I determine that to be that release day when I set it).
Sooooo, I always tell people to try out the trial, as it has no limitations other than session time. If you like it, buy it, and I will take care of you.
If you find something that fits your needs better (we are all different), then go for it.
The only other DJ software that meets my stability requirements is OTS, but then you don't get to call and chat with me. Steve and Glen are out surfing most of the time I gather (feel free to invite me down under guys)

Actually, even the current version has that code in it, but I disabled it before release, as it caused stability problems. There's a ton of new stuff in the upcoming version, but what features make the cut for release, will depend on how each feature effects the overall stability of the program...
That's why I haven't done any feature hype prior to release.
I like chatting with you folks on the phone -- but, I don't want to spend the rest of my life doing support for features my target market won't use
So, we shall see what makes it out the door.........
Rick - as much as I'd like to see the new version because I've been holding out for it, I appreciate the fact that you are taking your time and ensuring it's completely stable before releasing. I have been using your trial version for awhile now -- not sure when I'll make the full move to completely digital, but when I do, your software is on top of the list --- so I guess you're the one holding me up. haha BTW - I don't much care for the knobs either.

I like the knobs better myself.
Having said that, they work no different than a slider, and in fact, they are a slider! Same keystrokes work for them as do a slider as well. They work up and down. Seems that everybody tries to turn them like a real knob (obviously, no one reads my manuals).
Either way, the main 4:3 aspect skin that will ship with V4.0, will have the jog knobs, and EQ knobs on it. Haven't decided whether I will use 'standard' sliders on the 16:9 skin just to make Papa happy...
I'm kinda partial to the new skinning system, as it is totally user definable. Every control has a gazillion options, including the main one, which is whether you even want that control visible. If you don't use certain controls, e.g., I never use looping, you just make them invisible, and you can put anything anywhere you like.
They are all standard XML text files, and heavily documented, so it's easy to just copy a skin folder, give it a new name, make whatever changes you like, and walla, you have your own personalized skin.
If yer handy with a graphics program, and can read English, you will be able to do most anything you want with it.
I'll also provide a facility for people to upload their own skins to the website, so you can all share

I read your manual, but didn't need to, to figure out how they work. "I" prefer the sliders. I look forward to having the ability to create my own skins.

After it releases, I'll be starting on the interface programs for PDA's, cell phones for requests, etc. So, you won't have to do it yourself Papa (unless ye want to).
Need more money, cause my tractor broke, the water line is leaking, the well cover is rotting, the roof is leaking -- the usual 200 year old farm house stuff :sqerr:
