New Website, feedback appreciated

As of lately, Ryan Lelek has been sharing his extensive web design knowledge by working with me to come up with a new website for my company utilizing my new logo. This is what I'd call our "alpha" stage, its not near complete, but the general concept is. Any ideas/feedback specifically with the colors and design? Don't worry about the content, it will change.

Thanks Guys

Ummmmmmmm last time I checked wasn't South Charlotte till a US City?

What's with the different language?

Was the SC suppose to look like it's sinking into the header?

Due to lack of understanding the language used in your text I have no idea where it's going...

Its random characters to put in place of actual text for design purposes. (aka placeholder text) I'm not putting actual text content into it until I get the design done.

I like the overall look of your old one and the new one, both. Only one thing I don't like about the new one is the logo SC looks crude to me. I think that it could be more stylish and needs some refinement. That's just me, someone else might think it looks fantastic. I guarantee Hank Davidson or Surf Piggie could make a much better logo for you. Both of them are awesome and I've see a bunch of their work.

Hey Brian -

Just a quick note about how potential clients see websites:

In certain circles, it's been debated that the majority of people that click on a website for information, rarely scroll down the page for additional information. If what they want to know doesn't show up in the window in front of them in that square screen, they may bounce to another site instead of staying on yours.

Links to relative pages on the home page will at least keep a customer on your site, by drilling them down to the next level in the funnel.

Just my thoughts.

Crisp, Conscise and to the point kind of website. But a friendly suggestion though, I still feel any webpage/site/blog that usually advertises a DJ or anyone in that field , requires to be a little flashy looking with glossy edges n stuff. Anyway just givin my opinion, pls dont mistake me...and like the Wizard of Oz had said, i too feel the logo is really crude, see if u can add some bevel and a touch of gradient to it to give it that 3d glossy feel! :) Cheers anyway m8!

I just went back and read what Brian said and the logo we're seeing on the new website isn't his actual logo. It's a placeholder until the actual logo design is finished. He got more comments about that than anything else. I think the new website looks very good. Any website that has good quality photos always catches my attention. The website should look great once you put in the new logo.

Agreed. I hate to scroll as well. I try to fit all info for each page within the viewing area. I also started using "ThickBox" for popping up info in new windows (see my FAQ section).

Bear in Mind that Brian doesn't do weddings (I believe)...so the logo likely fits with his target (schools/corporate)

Why does eveything have to be soft and fluffy?

Hey Steve,
I actually have branched into weddings, I had my first solo wedding on Friday, and it went very well. I'm going to take it slow for now though.

Thats great advice Greg, I'm on a very high resolution with my monitor, so sometimes I forget about that. I'm going to assume the average viewer is 1024x768 resolution, and then see where I'm at.

That's great Brian!.....what I'd suggest is a softer fluffier site for weddings....

I'm for sure doing that to the wedding page, do you think that the site design alone would deter someone away who is looking for a wedding? I mean if I really get into them there is always the posibility of designing a separate wedding website.
