NEW MIXER

Don't do it. I've got one sitting on the shelf. It's too noisey. If you want it, I have an X500 that's still in decent shape.
I sold my X500 to Hampton a few years back. That's a solid unit.

I will say for the $600 I spent, the Denon MC6000mk2 is a good total package and it's rack mountable. 4 stereo channels (each switchable) and 2 mics. Mine also came with the full version of Serato.

I like the X500, but it doesn't have a mono/stereo switch.

I have not played with the MC6000 series but I think I'm starting to get the itch for a newer controller. I just don't understand why they all have to be so big. Current controller: Vestax VCI-300

Based on what I have seen, played with and what I have heard good things about, the options are:

Denon MC6000/8000
Pioneer DDJ-SX/SX2 (or something similar in the 4 channel lineup)
Numark NS7 (2/3)

MC6000 does, along with a zone/booth output for second rooms.

They are all solid. I wanted rack mounting, so went with the 6000v2, even though it's currently in a glider case.

Rick, thanks for that. Kinda odd that switches like that are on the back of the damn thing.
Rick and Steve. Not going with the MC6000. Just not a good match for me.

Rick, what are your demands if I was interested in the X500?

Buck-fidy, you pay shipping. I'd just like to see somebody get some use out it.

Great. Let me make sure it's the one I want. Expecting cash soon, hoping I won't need it for something, you know, important. (like food, heat, or the mortgage) Worst case scenario, I will try again in Spring. If you still have it.

If you want it, just pay the shipping. You can pay me when you can. I just hate seeing a good piece of gear sit in the storage unit, especially if a friend can make use of it.

I do a ton of research before I buy gear, and this is the first time I had to shop for a mixer in at least a decade.
I thank you for a generous offer, which I may very well take you up on.
But at this moment, I need to think about compatibility, not finances.

No problem. Take your time and do what's right for you. If you don't take it, that mixer is just going to sit in storage. But if you can make use of it, I'd rather see it getting some use.

Pioneer still makes one (DJM-4000), but doesn't seem to be available in the US .. maybe you can find a seller who can get one .. DJM-4000 4-channel rack mountable DJ mixer (black) - Pioneer DJ
I know the owner of Sin O Rama Sound Dave. Great guy that sells top of the line gear. No low end junk like Pyle Pro or Technical Pro. I highly recommend you buy from him. Tell him Jay Jay's friend Adrian recommended you. I've brought quite a few things from him including a great bag on wheels for carrying wires and other small stuff for $30 and wires for a cheap price.

Trust me I have the original 6000 and it works great. Not to mention it's compact. I have mine in a case with a built in laptop shelf that slides. I can easily carry it with one hand. It's not too big. Just right for me since I'm not good at heavy lifting of a big one like the old NS 7. That thing in a case weighed a ton. My old partner bought one and it took to of us to lift it inside a vehicle. The case had wheels which was the best thing because it would kill you to move it without wheels. For me that controller was designed for a permanent install and not mobile use.

Rick...
Hopefully you still have the X500 and your offer still stands.
I have no gigs until March, so it won't happen right away...
but when it does, I will let ya know!
