I voted for #6. But.......I would definitely add on something like Premier or Distinctive DJ Entertainment to the logo. South Charlotte Productions is such a generic name that I would worry about the DJ market by-passing it, thinking it was stage or video production.

Most people misuse the word logo.
Your name, even a stylized version, is your identity.
Your logo, is your corporate mark. Easily recognizable as you, even without the name.

Even though they have a very specific style when you see the names McDonald's and Nike advertised, the big yellow M and the swish are their actual logos.

So you would use both. You would need to use both initially just to create the connection between the SC circle and your name. The goal is that eventually people would just know what the lone SC circle stood for.

Ok, thats a very good point, so based on what your saying, a combination of the #5 text style and the "SC" used together at first until the SC becomes known would be the way to go?

Depending on the wedding clients you typically target, those markets may be fundamentally incompatible.

Use of the established Logo with different text for each market can aid in appealing to both.
Good luck!

Thats a very good point, up until now I guess I had confused the overall logo+style text for being the entire logo. My biggest thing is that if you see a company like for example McDonalds, no matter if they use the logo or not, their name is always in the same font, which becomes recognizable after time.

Very good point Steve, that has been in the back of my mind for quite some time, my biggest issue with changing it, is that I have just gotten over the hump of changing the name and now am getting recognized based on my name. If I was to change it again, even to say South Charlotte Entertainment, I would have the whole issue again of getting this new name known. I also realize that now it would be easier then in say a few years when I've established myself into the wedding and the mitzvah market fully.

I don't like the one with SC as a prominent factor as this could be mistaken for a bunch of rednecks in South Carolina

I had the same dilemma with my name. My broadcast on the radio was The Steve Cie Show. While I was an on-air personality, the name carry-over to my mobile DJ business was a no-brainer. But, then when it came to marketing, I found I was missing potential clients who were looking for a DJ.

The solution was to keep my name (since 1975) but add the tag beneath it "Premier Deejay Entertainment". It's still The Steve Cie Show, but now potential clients know exactly what we do!~

Thats a great idea steve, and I've infact toyed with doing something like that, before I came up with the current logo/style I have now, I had a name style designed with "teen event disc jockeys" underneath. I'm thinking that is the way to go.
Thanks!

Keep in mind that every market has it's own internal demographics. A hip logo would appeal to a younger (20 something) bride who is not hung up on all the pagentry (which these days is all the younger brides) and wants a hip party.

Wayde, I didn't mean that I'd have "teen event disc jockeys" under my logo, I am thinking something simple like "Disc Jockey Entertainment".

I like 6 and then 3. One thing to be conscious of is how well the logo will scale down for printing on things like stationary, business cards, etc., and how well they will translate in different media.

I would worry that 4 and 5 when crunched down would be a smear.

I would keep it simpler, with the SC in-line with the name.

Number 1 looks like the name written on a sign at the entrance of an upscale retirement community or condominium complex. Not too "teen."

That's just me, but then who would take logo advice from the guy that came up with mine:sqlaugh:

(The scaling issue is something I learned the hard way with mine!)

LOL thats a good point though. This designer is giving me the logos in vector format, which unlike a JPEG or any other picture file allows the picture to be scaled as big or small as you like without any distortion to the picture.

No I was referring to all the comments about needing seperate logos. There is no reason that the same hip/cool/hot logo couldn't appeal to both teens and young brides looking for a great party.

Yeah I should have clarified: I have miine in vector too, but I dont have software to open it:) !

And I do all my own lit and marketting, so not having access to the .eps', I end up scaling the gif's and it looks like crap!

My own stupid fault for that one though!
