Still only 1 post. I have decided not to post on people's threads any longer until I see that they plan to hang around a while.

Umm...she'd also posted on one of those (Obama-bashing) political threads that was in the Pub yesterday and seems to have disappeared (hopefully to the political forum). If anything, the narrowmindedness of the thread may have scared her away.![]()
Welcome to the board Cindy.
We have a nice bunch of Canadian DJ's on here and from what I can tell from some of their wedding gig logs, weddings are more fun there than formal. I like that kind of a wedding.
Good luck with your gig and we look forward to reading about the outcome of your event.
In that case look up the Cupid Shuffle on youtube and learn how to do it. It's new and refreshing and people love it.Thanks Ron.
The wedding will be in Buffalo, NY. He is from here and she from there. There are a few things I know are done differently between here and there. But you are right, fun is fun. I just need to find out from the B&G what they want, I do know she wants the cha cha slide. lol What is cool (at least I think so) is this couple and friends of theirs do some swing dancing, should be interesting to watch!

welcome aboard and good luck
(escpecially on the "getting paid for it" part)
I would imagine most of us go in "sets"...
and play a couple of slow songs, a couple of rock songs, a couple of country songs.
worst thing you can do is play ONE slow song, two fast ones, then another slow...etc.
if you see interest building in the set you are in...milk it for a few more songs.
If the dance floor gets thin, switch it up.
I usually find a reason to talk on the mic when moving from one genre to another.
if you're problem is slipping in a polka or a waltz...
just dont do it right after a set of new music...
wait till there are some older folks dancing
