Need to take 1 channel recording to Stereo

I'm guessing that this is a voice recording - someone presenting or at a podium? This kind of mic would likley have been panned center L+R so the missing channel is probably identical to the one you still have.

It would not make sense to buy a new software to bounce the channel over when you can simply dub it out as Canute suggested. The loss in doing so would be negligible if you do in fact have a quality recording to begin with.

So, if you already have a software that can import to one track then do that from a file copy and align the time signatures. If your software can't help you - do the dub.

ok wait a minute we cant give Canute credit for anything other than presumption here. He said it wasnt mono when in fact it likely is. Then making a left and right would be equal missing nothing but having no seperation .thanks for coming out BOB!

Jon,
You disappoint me! Even LeBlanc would not make a statement like that.

Im sorry Canute I hate dissapointing my elders but in the end I guess 1 time of me dissapointing to several in reverse is acceptable. ALso just to verify. I wouldnt reply like him cause I am not LeBlanc and its safe to say I wont or have no interest in becoming.

This doesn't sound like the kind of mistake someone who is aware and concerned about "stereo image" would make. So, I'm just keeping it simple.
:)
The OP and his client probably don't care about a stereo program. I think they just want to hear sound out of both channels when it gets played back.

I had the OP send me a sample and using Audacity I had a complete L&R channel mono file... using the Stereo Track to Mono conversion found in the Track menu... done in the time it took to process and export to a WAV file which can be quickly converted to MP3 if a smaller file size is needed.

He should have this info in his email by now.

I told him to do this in the second post of this thread.!

A turd does not move!
it does when it's looking for a way out!
(I opted for the "nice" way to say that)

p.s.
as I was scrolling down...I was wondering why no one asked WHAT was recorded.
most of the corporate stuff I have done has been nothing bu yapping....
so a dual-mono recording of half of a stereo microphone feed is not an issue.

regardless...
it seems the post was about making the best out of what he had...
(something the client may OR may not even notice)
