I don't do lights because I have a buddy that does them and he comes along with me for a separate fee to the client. This coming December I have a very important Corporate Client sent to me by the Entertainment Agency that is requesting a small lighting show. My buddy is already booked on this particular night so I want to buy about 6-8 lights for my use. My buddy will get them afterwards to use.
What are some of the most popular "must haves" that you all use. As much as I hate doing this (The lighting part) I can't turn down the gig. The client has requested my services before and was very pleased. The Entertainment Agency is negotiating an extra $500.00 just for the small light show.

This function will be a Corporate Christmas Party at the Hyatt Regency downtown for about 250 people. I would like the lights to be sound activated and DMX compatible if possible.

I can't believe I'm giving you advise.....or do I qualify to give you advice?

1) You'll need wash......Pick up a ESC Zipper (>$150.00) or a colorstrip
2) Centerpiece - I always like the TRi/Quad Phase...Sarge had a used one for sale. they do a nice mirror ball effect as well. You can control it with the UC3 controller
3) effects....If you could get your hands on a pair of used scanners or even a Martin EFX 500 or 600

Hey the message is important no matter who delivers it. :triwink:
I am thinking of getting this as a centerpiece facing out from a tripod. I have seen it used on a ceiling and also on a wall. It gives the effect of a Mirror Ball.

I have 2 of the ADJ LED Starballs....and they're...OK...in a small room

I think you'll be dissapointed.

You could het the ADJ Spherion; it comes in a tri led or white...That would give you a much better effect and look of a mirror ball...

Thanks Steve! Well that gives me something to think about. I'll see if the guys down the street have those two lights. The Jellydome I have seen in a large display room and I like the fact that it can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Keep the ideas coming.

Well at $500.00 extra just for a small light show, it will be worth it. My buddy will be using it afterwards. I also want lights that are capable of staying on all night if necessary, not duty cycle.

Houston, your first fixture is ADJ Tri-Phase LED. Next is an ADJ Revo4. A good center-piece is a Chauvet Vue6.2

I would also suggest a was light like the colorstrip...
plus an effect light or two.
unless they don't want "flashy"...
then I would stick to the wash light, plus a water effect and a mirror ball effect

even though you are not planning on continuing to do lights when this is done...
doesn't the extra $500 kind of explain why so many of us DO offer ligting?
