If the 7 year old is into hip hop, its because they listen to it together in the car! Either that or the mom thinks pop music is all hip hop.

I don't know...it might be difference in location but 7 year olds know A LOT of hip hop in this area. I just did a daddy-daughter dance recently and was discussing this with someone, how the kids know so many of the popular songs.
When I was that age I just listened to what my older siblings listened to so I take it that's how it usually goes for these kids.
Playing most of the top hits, including hip hop will result in a large group of excited, screaming kids. Even more surprising yet, is when they know the dances for the songs.
