My New Dilemma

Gravity stands look slick, easier to wrangle than a subwoofer pole mount. Anyone know how much the LS431 base plate weighs?
About 30 pounds. The handles are rubber surrounded, so it's fairly easy to hold. I have the LS331 base .. identical except for the pole holes (mine has 1 plus 2 passthru holes .. the LS431 has 3 possible pole holes).

what kind of lights will you have on it? what height do u have them at?

ive got 4 chauvet wash fx on my bar behind me and it easily lights the dancefloor...

Hey Chris...I'm going to be using those FX2's for the first time at a wedding next weekend. Do you ever angle these things toward the ceiling or a bit toward the side walls at all since they're so bright? Or do you just get 'em high enough and point toward the dance floor?

I'm glad this thread got revived, because I had some ideas about how to do something like @Ausumm suggested. For me, I think a good example to follow lies in the outdoor furniture store. Tables with strong vertical poles are pretty common...

... and stands for (umbrella) poles are readily available...

I could build this prototype pretty easily but don't use a 4 foot table...

... Just takes a drill with a 1.75" doorknob hole bit to drill the holes for poles in the tabletop, and some poles (which I have). Perhaps you use an umbrella stand...

... or a clamp to attach the poles to the table legs.

Might have an issue getting an umbrella plate under the table legs and I wouldn't trust clamping the poles to the table as you have the holes forward of the center of mass. Might get away with a truss style base plate or maybe one of the lightpole bases from Gravity or K&M .. I think they sit a bit lower and might clear the leg crossbars (might not clear the leg "feet" if close to the corner).

You can drill holes in the stand for the table legs to slide into, and you can cut it shorter if necessary. When you’re adapting an item for a different purpose than it was originally intended, there’s almost always some experimentation and modification.[emoji4] That’s part of the fun with DIY projects for me.[emoji1]

ive actually done all of the above....at my wedding i had brick walls on both sides of the dancefloor and i aimed them to those walls and it was gorgeous... ive done a couple large rooms where i did the ceiling... now ...with using MyDMX GO... i can lower the master brightness on them once at the begining of the night and it stays all night.... so i can then use them as a dancefloor wash.... its great that they are versatile... also...the great thing about using that software....it has so many pixel mapping preset options... and those lights look fantastic when they are performing in that way.

Absolutely!! i used them for a year as simple wash lights...with boring (yet tediously programmed) full color sequences on a dmx controller.... now with the touch of a button they are multi color eye candy unlike any fixtures ive seen.
