And I'm working tonight until midnight.... have to get up at 5AM to pack the van.... Ugggh. At least I am off tomorrow.

This is the gig I am doing for half price for charity, but my logo is going to be printed on 400 Tshirts that are being handed out, and my company name and contact info is in all printed items related to the event.

Really, they don't even need a DJ... all they really needed was a PA system, but the lady in charge hired me because "we don't know about all that stuff"....

Reminds me of the street festivals back home, Papa. :)

I worked 2nd shift and got home around midnight in those days. We'd load the truck the night before. When I got home from work I'd shower and shave then we'd be on the road for Virginee.

We'd arrive around 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning. Unload and set up (the area was not secured with locks or anything) then we'd have a sandwich and take a nap for a few hours. Shirl would crash on the park bench and I'd snooze in my director's chair.

When the building we set up in was finally opened, we'd roust out and plug in the extension cord. That was all we had left to do. Boy, that was an all day gig. :eek:

If they don't need DJing, just set 'em up with a mic and take a nap. :)

Reminds me of finals week. Lotsa black coffee, chocolate covered espresso beans, and energy drinks. Once your hands start shaking slightly you know the you've reached the correct caffiene intake. I make sure not to push past the 36 hour mark, things start to get weird going longer than that without sleep.
 
I don't have to wish YOU good luck, Papa, but I DO want to wish thae charity GREAT LUCK. Due to personal experience, I have a special place in my heart for charities relating to childrens' health issues......


On the other hand, I have issues with anyone or anything that wakes a working DJ early in the AM...:sqerr:
