Not at all -- I can get to The City, by walking down the road, hopping the ferry across the river to the train station, and popping on into Grand Central an hour later.

I get back home just as easy the same day (Faith's good for up to 15 hours +/- 3%) :)

It doesn't require me to board my doggy, fly on some contraption that occasionally falls out of the air, or crashes on takeoff/landing, and I don't have to drive at all. I also don't get cavity searched ;)

BTW, nobody drives in NYC -- it's a worthless endeavor. I've tried it :sqerr:

Having the show in NY would take away all the distractions of a gambling town, and I've also suggested Mohonk Mountain House to Ryan, as it would give a captive audience.

And no -- I am not a salesman. My product is available as a full trial version, so people can actually try it in their own home, risk free. It requires no selling on my part -- it sells itself. :)

God! you are such a POOP! :)

Not really -- you said earlier you wanted to argue the point ;)

I'm just here to help out

Honestly though, if I were to demo my product, it would have to be in a true conference setting, not a resort town. Resort towns are for partying, ogling chicks and gear -- not real technology showcasing.

If you folks want to party, come to Gully's on the river -- I'll show you a good time, and maybe you'll even meet some rock stars, hookers, movie stars, et. al. :)

ahhh again, I have to argue with you Ricky Boy! How many electronics shows are in Vegas?? Bunches..... and you don't have to take in all that stuff, I don't. I go there for the Expo. I don't gamble, maybe have a few drinks but never get drunk and I oggle chicks where ever I go so that doesn't mean squat! :)

The expos are what you make of them. If you go to party, well fine that's up to you. BUT if you go to learn, network and so on that is what it is all about..... and as far as marketing, the best product in the world don't sell crud if you aren't out there. With your personality and style, people who may have never looked at Rockit before, would check it out because of that cool dude. Being independently wealthy I guess you don't need to sell more than you do,,, that's cool.. ;)

When I went to Vegas in 2008, I was 2 years into my own DJ business and the regular job I had paid me quite a bit and I had amassed a great deal of time off each year. Then comes later in 2008 and the economy goes belly up for a lot of people, including me. I lost my job, all that nice money and all that time off.

Now I work a night job making a bit more than half what I was making and had to start vacation time all over. Because of vacation time taken this past year, including going to AC last August, I am now up to 20 hours. This place calculates vacation time per hour you work. My wife wants to go to Branson in April if we can afford it both money and time, so I am saving my vacation time for that. Let me also mention that we are caregivers for her Grandfather (last surviving between the two of us) whom lives with us and also watch out over her mom who lives close by. Both of them require attention.

As far as Joe and Heather, they have never been parents before. Chuck, do you by chance remember what it was like when your first child came along? Did it take a bit a getting used to? It's a whole new way a life and not to be taken lightly. Joe and Heathers child is not even a new born, but hewill still take a lot of time to get use to for them. This is something they cherish and look forward to and is a million times more important than a convention that they have been to time and time again.

So you my friend may not think there are legit reason for not going, but to many of us, there is.

I think you are both not getting what I am saying...... As I said to Rick my comments were aimed that the people who WANT to go but come up with excuses not to. If you don't WANT to go that's one thing.

We could battle on and on about kids,,,, yes I remember what is was like to have one and I still do since I still have her,,,,, but I truly believe that in life you can still do what you want and have kids. Why do you feel that once you have kids that your life as you know it ends?

It is a different life, but does that mean you stop doing the things that you enjoy? And let's not even get into the fact that it is our job and our business. Doing what we do is WHY we can have kids and afford them.

If you go to the Expos with the right frame of mind, one to better your business, you are bettering your lifestyle FOR your kids. You are working to make more money to buy them a better education, plan for their future and so on.

in the long run maybe you can make your DJ biz your ONLY job so you don't have to be away from the family as much.

Personally I never understood the people that have 2 jobs when if they worked at it could have 1 bad a** job and spend more time with family, which as we know is more important.

I am not being mean. I speak from experience. But maybe I was taking too hard a line,,,, maybe someone wants to go but just can't. I still don't believe that because if there is something you truly want to do, you find a way.... It just depends on how bad that you want it...

Let me see if I got this straight Chucky...

You can go to Vegas every year, hobnob with the "greats" in our field (or their minds), but in exchange...

You now have to grow and pick your own bananas, drive a minivan around on a rock, ride a ferry, and cater to drunk tourists every week.

As George Jefferson would say -- we're moving on up, to the east side... :sqwink: yorofl:

I am a strange person to be sure..... But Rick-poo, before I got to move to this rock I spent years in CA going to expos, raising a family and working so someday I could move to a rock. Going to those expos helped me do that. I am a firm believer in them and just like chat boards their are people there that are cool and some not so. There are ideas that are great and some not so, but if you want to expand a DJ business going to Vegas or Atlantic City is a great way to help... IMHO

Dang,I didn't mean to get everybody all hot and bothered!!!

Dang,I didn't mean to get everybody all hot and bothered!!!

The only one hot and bothered is Chucky -- that's because he's stuck on a rock in the middle of the ocean, while the rest of us are on the mainland ;)

He keeps trying to justify that costly existence, by posting pics of girls he'll never meet, and showing up in Vegas once a year in a flower shirt :D

It's all relative psych 101 -- he's lonely for the mainland life, and comes back as much as he can -- even if it means sitting through a seminar for the 30th time. Justification becomes the means to the end... ;) :)

Love ya Chucky, but face the facts -- you miss the life here, and it shows :yoluv4:

First off. Thank you for the "Thank you's".

Ok,

To answer Chuck's question -

We were both planning on attending the show. We had airfare & passes bought. But all that changed once we learned we had been 'matched' as a family for Aaron. This occurred in the beginning of November. We were chosen over 4 other families to start visits with him. Supervised visits then led to unsupervised day visits, then unsupervised overnights & now unsupervised weekends.

So as things progressed, we learned that the final placement will occur on Dec. 23rd - his last day of classes for his current school (the same date as his new school). He will start in his new school on Jan. 3rd once classes resume.

Once he is placed with us, the social workers (our's & the County DHS worker) will want us to bond with him & will be out to visit him on a monthly basis. As they told us, these can be announced or surprise visits. As our social worker said to us, if I was to leave Heather home with him by herself for the week to go out to Vegas, it could seriously jeopardize the placement & he could be removed from the home. This is whether the workers visit during this week or not. To quote our social worker "Becoming a parent means that we will have to make sacrifices".

These visits/inspections will continue for at least 6 months until the adoption is finalized in Court.

If missing this year's show is a sacrifice to make our dream of being parents a reality, well that's why I've got 2 passes for the show for sale. The airfare is non-refundable, non-transferrable....oh well. :)

Cheers,

Joe

Congrats Joe.

Rick and Chuck get a room.... in Vegas :)

Louis We will see you there. Just booked our flights and coming in on that Saturday instead of Sunday like we have in the past :)
