$800 for 12" sub and stick to start

Maybe Canute can check them out. They're sold by Cheaplights which is near him I believe.

That's why I posted it. Could be an alternative to you know what. If they sound good it would be a bonus.

SpeakerMax is a company similar to PylePro/Behringer. Yes they are the main supplier to Cheaplights. They made my Rolling Racks. My Racks are withstanding the test of time but that is because I am gentle with my gear. I have had to change Casters once. When I am on that side of town again, very soon (I am talking with a Club owner across the Highway from their Showroom about doing a production), I will take a listen. Fair to Decent will be the highest mark I expect to get from products that Cheaplights sell. They are about 35 minutes/miles away from me.

I would need to have a listen myself before making a decision. It looks cute but that doesn't mean a thing. Obviously they are trying to style off of Bose. Bose is very expensive of course but I don't hear a lot of people complaining about their products.

As I start to do more smaller karaoke gigs (20 - 50) I am looking at something more compact than my 2 K10s on top of a KW181. Considering the Bose L1 and bass bin which would fit the need and be used as a compact ceremony/cocktail system.

Will check these out tomorrow. Cheaplights has a showroom about an hour away from me. I will be in that part of town tomorrow and will swing by for a listen.

The line array stick idea is a good one and I'm sorely tempted on the Carvin units. My Bose L1M2 throws farther, has fantastic coverage, is visually more appealing than anything else I own. It just doesn't have enough punch. As soon as someone gets it right on marrying a stick to a meaty bottom end, the game will have changed again.

This is what I would use for Small Karaoke Gigs. Bose 802s. I have used the pair without subs with great success for small parties.
The drawback with the other Arrays which are pole mounted, is that each side will always need a sub (Which holds the top). The Bose L1 will be the other alternative.

Rick...do you have the bass bin with your setup or just the stick?

This will do it. http://www.renkus-heinz.com/loudspeakers/iclive/index.html. I have not heard them but the Specs are pretty impressive and RH tends to be conservative with their specs.

These will also do the job.http://www.k-array.com/en/professional-sound/portable/kr102.html

So you do gigs without a sub and you beat me up. Tisk Tisk. Shame on you rookie. No matter how small the gig is and no matter how small the room is you must use subs all the time. Isn't that a big rule of yours? And you don't follow that rule? Shame on you beating up on others for not following that rule and then you admit you don't follow it all the time either. So are you for real or a fraud? Sorry for hitting below the belt but I just couldn't resist. I wonder how many others caught onto what you said.

I don't play in a bowling alley with no subs. If I am doing Karaoke in someone's home I will use the two Bose only as they have enough bass.

Tried the b2 yet?

Sorry! I just don't buy it. If there is room for a speaker stand there is room for a sub. Put the Tops on a pole on top of the sub. If the speakers were on the floor raise each speaker and put a sub under it. That is one Lame Azz excuse. You need to be more creative in speaker placement.

Are you sure you were at a Bowling Alley and not a Kiddie Playroom? Next time post pics.

Here is a Bowling Alley for you and this is a small one in a average part of town. Sit back and enjoy the Slideshow http://www.threehundred.com/houston_tour.html

I'm not ganging up on ya .. but c'mon Canute, show some consistency - practice what you preach. I'm also not defending Mix - but you're always talking about being professional and consistent for everyone that reads these - and here you are - defying your own advice. I imagine in this example, you might say that the area was so small, they were not needed - what's the difference between you saying that and Mix saying that (other than the fact that you both said it)?

According to Mix, his reason for not using a sub was that there was no space to put one. Then I said, that if there was space for a speaker stand then there was space for a sub.
When I do small house parties mainly Karaoke, in a residence, I do not need a sub to get bass. If I did that SAME event in a commercial venue or at a Public space, I will definitely use at least one sub. You cannot compare someone's living room to a Bowling Alley of Hall. You all are not comprehending.
