Make Extra Money By Making Music

The first thing that popped into my mind was that old Eddie Murphy SNL faux commercial and his line, "Be a Ho!".

Great...more people who are all about the money, and not the music and the clients, will be trying to DJ. That'll just make the J Mac and me look even better! :)

Yeah! But it may also mean less opportunities to get gigs. Doesn't matter if the amateur gets the gig and can't perform up to par. What matters is that gig is now gone.

Keep us posted! I can see all the wannabes sprouting after this newscast! :sqeek:

Me too! Perhaps I should advert...

You should see the new software I'm working on... Ahhh, never mind -- you guys might not like it :sqerr: :sqlaugh:

Call ABC, get yourself a plug. :D It's probably pre-taped though. I'm not going to watch the newscast live. I'll watch it online because they'll puff it up through the whole hour to keep you watching, then show a 90 second segment at the end of the newscast. I hate when they do that.

TV sweeps are now in progress, expect the over the top sensational crap etc....

The teaser.

You don't like to be teased?

That's why they call it a teaser Dan. Besides Dan, you're being generous at 90 seconds, sometimes they sucker you in for just 30 seconds of "news". Tivo the bastards! That'll teach 'em.

I just looked at the segment. DJ classes start at $300.00. Wow! Look Ma! I am a DJ now! All i have to do is log on to Limewire and get me some tunes! I can be a star!

$3oo is cheap.

I'd sign up if I didnt have my business now. *jokin*

Why do we complain about limewire....many of the dj businesses out there have illegal music...

The djs who actually have a legal business are usually the ones who are "overpriced" and no education is going to matter to these clients.

If the dj gets caught with an illegal library who gets punished...the clients, the venue...no! The dj gets in trouble.

That is why we will never be able to get these bad apples out of the barrel, because clients and venues will continue to hire them, even when they know they are illegal. Plain and simple.

Not so fast! I do know that the Club Owner or the Promoter of the event will be the one to be prosecuted if it comes down to that! Then again, weddings are private affairs so there may be a loop hole there.

You guys don't have vision! I can see myself now. An infomercial. Flanked by beautiful woman just like that oriental guy. Expensive exotic car in the foreground, equally exotic expensive boat in the background. Waterfront property. Did I mention the women are in almost there bikinis?

Commercial opens:
I'm occidental but speaking with a distinct Chinese - oriental accent - you wanna be rich like me? Be a DJ! Meet fabulous women! Get laid by new woman every night! Make lots a dolla! Get BJ underneath console. Just send me 300 dolla. I tell you how to be great DJ. Great dolla. You want be rich? Send me 300 dolla. I let you in on secret formula. Send me dolla.

Look guys it is either that or start a religion.

A DJ school, lots a dolla.

Very true, in Indiana, it is the venue that is responsible for any sort of ascap, etc licensing, not the DJ. While the DJ may get beaned for having illegal copies, the venue will be hit as well.

There is a school up here too, I think around the same price. I can maybe see showing how to hook up some equipment and what is out there for equipment but you can't teach a love of music.

Wouldn't it be great if all clubs and venues were required to have DJs who had proof of ownership (Legal Purchase) of their Music library? Boy oh boy! Lots of events would be scrambling to find new DJs.
