Local library won't take my CD's

A while back, I mentioned that my local library was in my will for all my CD's except the RPM's and CDX's.

I thought what the heck - might as well donate them now and be able to see my donation in action.

Lo and behold when I tried to formalize the transaction, they said they could not accept my CD's since they were not in jewel cases.

All mine are in sleeves from Univenture. So I'm stuck again with what to do with all my CD's - and no I'm not taking requests like "just send them all to me".

Any ideas?
 
Donate to a local school A/V or music program?

Ok, I have a question/comment here...

I'm just guessing, but I imagine you ripped all your CDs that you want to donate. If you give them away, then you have no physical proof that you ever bought them, and are no longer entitled to use them.

So realistically, if you give them away, you have to remove any songs you might have on yer drives that came from those discs...

And yes Rick, I thought of that.

But something may happen in a few months that may negate all that.

Ok, give us the dirt... :D

You planning on:

a) Winning the lottery
b) The wife sorta falls off the boat and you collect insurance policy
c) Visiting Jack Kevorkian
d) Quit the DJ Biz and retire to Bolivia

Option #2 sounds appealing. The wife wants to go on a boat ride really really bad. Hmmm...this sounds like fun the more I think about it. :sqlaugh:
 
Guys guys - you're getting off track here.

C'mon...seriously...I'm looking for ideas on donating my CD's to a worthy cause - and it ain't you!

Remember, they're all in Univenture sleeves.....
 
Well look at it this way. if you donate it to a library you'll get a thanks and then after a few months they won't even remember you. Give it to an ODJT member and you'll have a lifelong friend who will now owe you a big favor! :sqwink:
 
Sounds to me like you are either looking at a heart transplant or a serious bout with cancer!

Why not sell the CDs and use the money for yourself?
 
If you have your mind set to donate 'em to a good cause, I'd like to offer a suggestion: Get in contact with a local nonprofit group and they can sell the things at auction.

The Boy and Girl Scouts, a 4-H group... these folks are all the time doing something to raise money for their projects. And a lot of people will buy just to help the kids out. :)

Thoughts?
