So has Cam totally destroyed his new Live x speakers yet? Haven't seen anything from him in a while. As far as abuse, he seems to be the hardest on speakers of anyone I've read about. I think the 15"s would have been better for him. I doubt he could play them louder than they should go without making everyone in the bar completely deaf.

That's true - Cam (I think his new name should be Mr. Live X) has been real quiet. Rick's been runnin' them pretty hard too. Rick's lovin' them so far. I haven't had the chance to drive 'em yet.

According to some things I've read, the 15's are better if you're not running subs. If you're running subs - the 12 is the better option. When I finally christen 'em, I'm also gonna try the subs with the K12's.

I don't get it. When I owned my powered cabs I never ran them pass the 12 o clock position. Why are some of these guys toying around 3 and 4 o clock? I kept my mixer master and 1/2 (12 o clock) and had plenty of good sound. It sounds like these EV boxes are being overdriven to an early grave.

FYI - 5:00 is max - and - it's 5:00 somewhere.

I'll gladly test with 12:00 too. I'll test it ALL!

=)

I'll probably be most comfortable at 2:30.

My guess is improper gain setup. With the amp up that high chances are good that the audience is hearing that beautiful white noise aka hum during quiet parts of songs.

You're right. I'm probably more like 3:30 (80%-85%). No hum issues, at all, unless I turn the mixer up past 80%.

You can DIY with almost anything.

But the quality and reliability will likely suffer.

Happy DIYing.

I agree - but I'll change it up a little - if not built properly, 'the quality and reliability will likely suffer'

My turn:

I agree - but I'll change it up a little more - when not built properly, 'the quality and reliability will likely suffer'

I realize that the DIY proponents believe DIY is equivalent but expensive, frequent, and reliable experience has taught me, and I acknowledge YMMV, that DIY = amateur. Frequently DIY results in little, if any savings, and substantial, if not total, uselessness.

I applaud the DIY confidence.

From the photo posted the Road Ready cart looks like.....3/4" plywood w/ 4 caster and a logo that makes it $50 bucks more...
Steve, you don't find those type of casters at Lowes or Home Depot or even Ace Hardware. I know, I looked. They are specialty casters made for heavy use. Those casters specify about 300lbs load each. The equivalent that I saw here in Houston were about $20.00 each but the bolt pattern was different to what I had so I did not buy it. I went back to my original manufacturer and bought a whole plate just to get one. Now I have three spare ones.
