I just ordered a whack of stuff from Professor Jam. I ordered (5000) new full color biz cards with no coating on the back so they're easy to write on. Also ordered 2500 4x6 full color, coated both sides, postcards to be used as rack-cards. Product pricing was great although I was speechless when they young lady on the phone quoted me the Fedex shipping rate. The coated one side is going to take longer so they were going to ding me twice for shipping. I told them I can wait to have them shipped together so they recalculated... It's still costing me over 50 bucks for ground service within the US, which I think is way too high. I've shipped big, heavy, road cases across the US for way less than that. I think the Prof should look into using another shipper... :trirolleyes:

Since his product prices are good, the bill is just over 3 hun for everything, including shipping. I hope the quality is as nice as everyone says. :tribiggrin:
 
I had him make cards and they were VERY NICE, but the ordering process was just this side of being a nightmare... I'm not sure I would order from him again. But the cards are nice, and you can't beat the price.
 
I haven't ordered cards in forever. I used to hand them out all the time but lately, everything is website oriented. I would rather spend the less amount and do vista print then spend a ton on "fancy" cards.

Business cards are not as big a deal as they used to be. As long as they have your information on them and don't look home made from your printer, they work fine.

Fancy cards don't cost any more than regular cards so you may as well get some decent ones, it's the postcards that cost more. I am fortunate to have venues that actually hand my rack-cards out to clients so I have to print those up and have them readily available to top up when asked.
 
No, not at all. I have cards and they look nice. I just don't spend a ton on them. I don't think now a days you have to. Name, address, phone, website and email is all you need.

I actually just send Hank a message to help me put my logo on cards. I am running low and want my cards to match my logo on my site.

I just use the deals I get emailed from Vistaprint for my cards. Get 500 for usually free just pay shipping.
 
Here are my cards. I have had these for a couple years. I just got an email from Vista print today for 250 free cards plus a metal card holder for my wallet.

Now I will be charged more to put my logo on it but that is minimal.

These are not "Write your name and number on a scrap of paper" they are nice in my eyes. YMMV

I tend to agree with Karl here the simpler the better...

I know I told this story before but here goes..

When I first got in to the business I had dropped every dime I had in to it I mean literally every dime I was broke. I had to borrow money for gas to get to my first gig

I needed business cards so my girlfriend at the time took some coloured construction paper and cut it out in 1X1 squares. She was a neat printer so she wrote the business name on one side and the phone number on the other in coloured pencils

I used these cards for about a year and then went and spent some money on "nice" cards. At the time cards were expensive there was no Vista Print or anything like that just the local guys. I believe it was close to a buck a card.

The one thing I learned was the "nice" cards didn't do anymore for me than the cardboard cards. Ever since I have bought plain cards with name number and the likes. I figure the card is for information only and if I don't have them sold by the time I pass them the card it's a card wasted
 
BTW Karl I like your cards...They aren't what I would buy but they are nice. Keep the flowers instead of the logo don't get caught up in the everything must match game
