Local public transit is hiring, and willing to train to get me a CDL..all I gotta do is say yes. Full time Union job. (never been in a union). Benefits (no info on details.).
Guaranteed sundays off, and one other day. As it's based on seniority I'd get the crap shifts. So I can keep my committed gigs for next year as a condition of pre-employment they tell me.

But the downside is two fold - many are split shifts - you drive rush hour and get time off mid day..not bad in many ways, but an 8 hour work day is split up and more like 10 or 11 hours.
And the worse..$13.66/hour. After taxes that might net $21k. That sucks.

Maybe sales/marketing/lead generation isn't that bad afterall. So, I hate my job (or that part of it anyway)...most people do, right? LOL

I've done public transit/bus driving. The attrition rate is massive. It takes a rare breed of cat to juggle driving (every lunatic in the world wants to cut the bus off, texting drivers, elders, teens, etc), cashiering (some systems don't use cash, some do), problems with foreigners who can't 'habla', handling '10-99s' (disabled people in wheel chairs), drunks, crazies....all while keeping your route on time so people can make transfers. MOST people who make it through training end up washing out when they get behind the wheel. It's the most thankless job on the planet...huge amount of stress....at times. Most transit systems are now offering sign on bonuses and you should get a good pay bump (at least $1 an hour) if you survive the first 90 days.
