Today I was in Montclair playing for the seniors birthday celebrations for the month. I decided to use the laptop I put to backup and I first made the mistake of not hooking the wire from the laptop to the controller. I was wondering why when I tried to load a song it wouldn't work. That's when I noticed I hadn't plugged the wire in the controller so I could load a song into either side of the program. I hooked up both the wire to the controller and the portable HD to the laptop. I went to play a song and it didn't sound right. I turned the controller off and on. Then restarted the laptop. It still sounded muffled. I thought it might have been buttons on

the controller were on that should be off. It wasn't that.

So I hooked up the other laptop and it worked fine. No issues. So it looks like I will be using the backup laptop for playing Monopoly and getting online.

So let me ask this question. What would anyone here suggest for a 17" laptop that cost no more than $500. I know I should have a laptop for backup just in case something goes wrong with one of the laptops. I really hate this happened today because I love that laptop. It has several voice overs that I LOVE! I wish I knew a way to transfer the voice overs from one laptop to the other. One of the voice overs is my ex's voice over that she hates. I love it!
 
I'm not going to comment on the new laptop the variance in price between Canada and the US on electronics is so much I really have no idea what you can get for $500 US but why don't you just copy the voiceovers to the hard drive from the old machine?

Mix, there likely nothing wrong w your laptop. Seems a lot of user error, especially something as simple as plugging in wires. Have a feeling a setting was off, a driver needs updating, or just a simple restart may be all that’s needed. Muffled is usually not something that’s a sign of a broken laptop….

Mix, do you ever shop on eBay? There are numerous options on eBay for 17 inch laptops, some well below $500. I seriously doubt you need a new computer. The one you have is likely easily fixable. Let me warn you again, as I have before… BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER!!! If there’s files you’d hate to lose, BACK THEM UP! There’s FREE backup software out there you can download!!!
