OK...I have thought about this for a while.......

Now keep in mind...I didn't put this up as worst thing ever.....or and OMG....I can't believe this happened. I posted it as interesting......and all but a few reply's on here made it even more interesting...

First off....didn't know it was a debate about smoking.....omfg....yeah I smoke.... for those of you who can keep your self intact after that fact.....4 smokes in 9 hours is about a 1/4 pack a day habit. That is not the case for me but I endure, but that is besides the point. And those of you that allow no smoking during the event...etc...etc... when was the last time you guys sent and employee out on a 9 hour gig and told them no breaks.....there's a couple...well their called laws against that...

And as far as the comment about not being able to fit the assholes request in....well it got back to smoking.....jeesh.... seriously...that had nothing to do with the crowd on the dance floor.....the vibe on the event....just had time to have a smoke break. If that is all you have to say.....well....keep it to yourself...

At no time was my rig un-manned....oh wait....only had a 16 year old up there...and there is no way she could 1.defend herself if needed....2. actually run a rig and do what several of you claim is damn near impossible..and do it well. No apprenticeship......payin the dues....workin for the man....sick of hearing all that ****..... If you ain't done all that you ain't worthy to press play.....seriously....just start up the DJ union and get it over with.....btw....will close my business that day...

Here's a clincher for you...she runs her own rig when we have multiple ops.....and does it quite well. Books gigs where she is requested.....damndest thing...

Again after I thought about it.....the whole carrying the M-16 remark....it offends me....it offends several of my values.....it offends several of the virtues I have instilled in my children.....it offends the fact that they are willing..knowing what they are going to face...trust me I don't sugar coat it...they still are still willing to do what they feel is just and right....when you make comments like that it demeans everything my kids are willing to stand up for based on your own fears while your kids were in....granted I thank you and them for their service....but don't project that on my children.....

I think I am done with ODJT.......I have gained a lot of info on here.....I have tried to give some advice here and there.......but when it boils down to it.....there is a set group on here...it's basically their way or the highway.......and if your not a member of the good ole boy club.....well....get with the program....

seen it over and over and over again....

hell I get a kick out of it....half the gear I was asking about when I first joined and got ragged on about.....several of the main stream on are using now......

When I first joined this forum....it was pretty diverse....now all I see is the same old folks...over and over and over..commenting on everything....with the same info over and over....

For those of you that keep open minds.....thank you

Canute thank you especially...your a real pain the ass...but you know your ****.....
Val...look forward to meeting you one day......thanks for all the great info on expanding...
Rick...have a beer.....
Papa...know what your feeling...
to everyone else....good luck...if you don't think you need luck then ......well I'll refrain

My M-16 comment was not meant to look down on you or your kids, it was a simple fact, as I have a daughter also and work very closely with her school and her friends, they all think they are bullet proof and tuff. I know many of the kids I have been close to that went into the Army and have severed a tour in another country, walking the streets and not knowing who might kill them. When I saw them again at church they get a laugh out of thier younger friends who still think they are tuff and have yet to see what tuff really is.

If my comment hurt you or your family, you have my deepest apology!

Smoking is not a legitimate "break" it's simply a habit and as in this case, a habit that impedes customer service. People are interested in getting their requests honored and you are literally blowing smoke in their face. What does it say about your disposition when you tell someone "I'll try to fit it in" as though you're so busy - and then they see you with all kinds of time to just stand around and relax with a smoke?

Smoking IMHO is a nasty habit ...mostly because of the personality characteristics that accompany the habit.

Please tell us Bob what personality characteristics do smokers have.

I would imagine a professional such as yourself keeps a bucket under the table so when you have to take a leak you don't have to leave your assigned post

I won't leave! Nobody will miss me if I go. They all have me on ignore, so how will they know that I've left! Eh! :embarrassed:
