I bought a BCD3000 a while back, but I haven't really touched it in about a year. I'm just starting to get it out again because I'll be doing some live shows in a couple of months. The software that came with it was a limited version of Traktor 3, which was ok, but I knew that if I ever did a real show with it that I'd have to upgrade to the paid version. Well when I got a new laptop (MacBook) and transfered the contents of my old hard drive using Time Machine, the Traktor no longer worked. I tried reinstalling it from the disk, but it came up at DJ Studio 3 - something I'd never seen before.

Anyway, I'm considering buying Virtual DJ Pro. I have a trial version right now. But no matter where I go on the internet, I just can't seem to find any help. Every forum I go to is convoluted with all sorts of tech-speak that I can't understand and only serves to confuse me further. I have so many beginner questions that I can't seem to find answers to (for example, what is "mapping"? And all the input/output settings are foreign to me). Right now, my headphones aren't working with VDJ - how can I fix that? How do I make my mixer fully compatible with this software if I choose to buy it? Any help (in layman's terms) would be greatly appreciated.

-- What's the difference between using one turntable and two? Can I get away with using one?

Mapping is what associates a particular action on the controller to a particular action within a software (like Virtual D.J.) A mapper is a set of instructions to map a device for usage with a software. Virtual D.J. supports a HOST of controllers, with most (including yours) being supported without the need for the addition of a mapper. However, there may be user-created mappers available from other users of the same controller that may have more or better functionality than the "default" mapper. This part is simply a matter of choice. You can also create your own mapper, if you wish.

I'm not certain about your 2nd question, but I don't see it as a viable solution, if it's even possible. How can you mix if the one turntable is controlling both decks?

While I'm not familiar with this particular controller, I am very familiar with all-in-one controllers. In the config. menu, select the following:

inputs: none
output: headphones
sound card: (your controller)

Try that, and see if you get audio for the headphones.

Also, a great place for all things Virtual DJ are the VDJ forums. If the users here don't know the answer to a question you have, there are lots more there that might.
 
Thanks for your reply. I've found the VDJ forums to be pretty useless but I'll try over there too.

When I have the sound setup like this, everything works EXCEPT my headphones…

When I have the sound setup like this, my headphones don't work and the sound quality is awful, OR Deck A only plays on the left speaker and Deck B only on the right.

When I have the Input & Output set as "None" and "Headphones", then I am only given these options for the Sound Card...

Try a different USB cable. VDJ isn't "seeing" that you have a controller.
 
Simple buy a soundcard like a gigaport that has 4 outs or buy a second sound card use one out being the usb sound card and the other being the headphone out on your notebook.

From what I have experienced the Behringer controllers don't work for crap. I suggest a Denon controller.

Could you explain in a little more simple, non-technical detail? I'm new to this stuff. Thanks.

You have NO option to select your Behringer device. Virtual DJ isn't aware that you have one.. at least not in the sound card portion, or else you would be able to select it. Do you have the latest Behringer device drivers installed? If you look in the device manager under audio, do you see anything with a yellow exclamation point?

This one's over my head, sorry.

I'm not familiar enough with the Behringer, nor with Macs, to be able to suggest anything further that wouldn't be simply a guess.
