None of them seem to really give a $#$#. That's all I'm saying.

I waited a week, I have 3 other musicians coming to my house this weekend with their families, I was very stoked to have the baddest PA on earth when they got here to support out jams...not to mention WTF I just spent 4K.....give me some sympathy. The first thing I'd say is, "Oah man I'M SORRY!! We got you. " But he didn't. He was like "forwarded, next". The first thing the support person said in her email way, "Did you take them out to test them to be sure they work?". What? No. They're damaged. I don't care if they work.

That is not the attitude you get from Guitarcenter, I'll tell you that much.

Maybe you East Coast dudes are just used to it.

In any case, that packaging is clearly not adequate for a trip to California from NJ.

You waited a week for a response? or for the subs to be shipped to you?

I always call to place orders or if by chance i have any issue... it helps to hear a voice...inflection ...and so forth... if i text someone angry...i will always read that text back as snide...its just human nature.... id give them a call... trust me they will take good care of you...

Im east coast...but southern...and always have my back hairs up thinking northerners are buttholes... but the guys at idjnow always surprise me how nice and helpful they are...

i only defend them because of my dozens of positive experiences with them

I was trying to be lighthearted by making a joke that I wouldn't be placing a new order today...you see that LOL there. Got mouthy? haha. That's funny. I take it you don't think it is a big deal though, so your two cents are noted. You make a great customer. Thank you Chris.

Well... sometimes an LOL is like saying...i mean no offense...but (insert offensive statement) lol... u told a sales guy you will essentially not be spending any money there again...and thats what he read...LOL or no LOL... so he simply said... "Why do you feel that way....im here to let you know your situation is being processed as fast as possible"

i think its a HUGE deal that you spent 4 thousand dollars and got beat up speakers.... all im defending is... idjnow has an amazing reputation for making things right....so i assume once the support team gets back to you... they will take care of things...post haste...

Maybe ive had good experiences with them because im a laid back guy who can compartmentalize my personal feelings from business transactions...

cc

let me encourage you again to CALL THEM!

i refuse to make grand purchases like this over the internet... everytime i call them they tend to add some sort of discount to my order...almost as an appreciation for being a physical human being on the other line... those other orders bypass them and go straight to the shipping dept..

I waited a week for shipping.

That right there is what I wanted to read from him first thing. Like I said, you’re a good customer if you go out of your way to make customer service easy for a company. Must be your Southern hospitality. It is actually their job to make you feel confident, at least over on this side of the river.

Haha! Anyway, they’re going to take them back so I’m only out the time and disappointment.

Now that I k ow those cabs are made out of painted wood with no vinyl or covering of any kind and no corner protection I am going to look at something else.

Hope you find what you are looking for... im always supportive of fellow djs in need or having trouble... and i truly support your situation.... it just seemed quite accusatory without much info to go on.... and seemed really odd in comparison to my personal experience...

Maybe they hired a couple new guys who are ruining their reputation... who knows

ps- your best subs are going to be made of the exact same thing... vinyl and hardware are simply more things to "rattle"

Pretty much all commercial quality boxes are plywood with a spray on duratex finish these days .. no corner protectors since they tend to round the edges. A reason that quality bags/covers are really a necessity to keep them looking good.

Hate to break it to you, BUT...

...You should have purchased ALTO Subs as I always recommend. You would have saved $3,000. You also would not have had a problem with the boxes being beat up, and they hold up better to any abuse.

See now? You go to spend $4,000 on Subs that you didn't really need, and all it got you was grief, and a bad mood about the purchase ....$3,000 could have been a nice vacation somewhere...or a SECONDARY CAR paid for in CASH even. OR you could have gambled it and made even more money. Could have done A LOT with $3,000 that you put into SUB WOOFERS....And for what? To maybe impress some people, or other DJs because you have expensive subs?

All you have now is a lot of grief, and even more grief because you belief you should be treated like you bought a Rolls Royce from the company, and you think you are being stomped on, and mis treated as a important money spending customer.

Good Luck with the situation, and I hope everything is rectified after dealing with the PITA situation you are in!

Make the decision to be happy in the future. ...Buy Alto, or at the most expensive Yamaha or QSC... :)

Don't be a fool! Get credited back, and buy a pair of Subs that are considerably lower in price.

You Got Lucky they did not get damaged during shipping!

On a side note...I know a few DJs that did not even earn $6,000 last year, and I know MANY musicians who don't pull 6K a year. That's a whole lot less than the $80,000 or more that you pull in. Spending so much on just Subs is not a wise decision for most in this industry.

Gross or net lol? But in all seriousness I have a 10k budget for equipment upgrades each year. Last year was on sparklers, year before that was my rcf system. This year I’m not sure yet...

I mean...What else are you going to buy that has positive earnings potential? Where do you store all your gear at? ...I am tired of paying the $228 monthly storage fee for all the gear I have, and I probably have less than 1/4 all the gear you have.

I can invest in additional sparklers (they're extremely popular if you can't tell from my events), invest in newer LED moving heads now that they're powerful enough to compare to my elation 5r's, possible a second chauvet nimbus for event more impressive dancing on the clouds effect... invest in a new facade that caught my eye (someone I know locally has been building some custom designs)... and maybe I'll just save it as I am also considering other areas of investments outside of djing as well (I've been slowly building a real estate portfolio the last few years).

As far as storage... I store things at home. Been fortunate enough that I've always lived in a house w decent garage space (my equipment takes up 1 spot). At $228 a month... I'd spend a little more and find an office space which could double as a storage area. I also need to have my equipment accessible for charging and prep purposes (updating overlays in my selfie booth... charging uplights... exchanging co2 tanks, minor repairs to things, etc. Being a single op I've always focused on cutting unnecessary expenses... and that storage expense to me seems like wasted money... especially if you have 1/4 of what I have. I dont know how you do things, but personally, I aim to keep my expenses around 30-35% of my total revenue. This year I'm aiming for expenses to be between 25-30% of revenue.

You have to spend money to make money as they say. You just have to spend it on the correct items. In1983 to get into the Video Dance Market, I dropped almost 10K on video equipment. That’s about 24K in 2020 dollars. Back then bands got paid all the money in the college market and played primary Rock. I wanted to sell them a event which had a much wider appeal. So I had to record & produce to promo video to sell the idea of a Video Dance before all the equipment came. Somewhat risky but I had a couple of college sold right out the gates. Just had to make it all work. Those were some crazy times. Now, I am replacing vehicles and shifting to much lighter equipment. I am just floored how a new used to cost 10K now costs 35k in 30 yrs. But now I shifted to doing events like Karaoke, Extreme Bingo & Outdoor Movies so I don’t picture myself doing any of the huge events but if so I will have them provide the audio system.
Had to pay for storage for a couple of months while I sold off stuff and rearranged storage locations. Put to stop that really fast. But I ran into a guy with multiple rooms in the city he must have been spend a ton of money just on storage
