Chris,
What happens when the formalities each take a bit longer than planned like perhaps Priscilla needs a dress adjustement or to powder her nose prior to the first dance and then Dad is topping his drink and no where to be found when the Father Daughter is timed to play. I see this causing alot of undue stress and after all we preach let us help make your day stress free. Let us run the show etc while you two enjoy. Just my thoughts. Kudos on the great planning and ideas but let Koz help he has offered graciously. Remember there arent any do overs on this momentous occasion.

My biggest concern is what happens when the music you preprogrammed weeks before just doesn't hit the passion point for your guests. The value in a truly professional DJ is how he can read the crowd and play music that ill work based on everything he learned to that point....

A successful party based around a jukebox is PURE LUCK - and we know you can't leave this day to dumb luck. You owe it to your bride.

IMHO the younger crowd will be easier to get up dancing first so we'll start there. My fiancee will be up there with myself and we shouldn't have a problem getting our friends up.

Next comes transition with reggaeton where young crowd can still dance but we also might start to get some spanish folks. Even if we don't get the spanish folks they will at least hear spanish music.

Then go into full on spanish music. The spanish folks should be easier to get dancing then english folks earlier in the night.

Then play crossover english/spanish song to go into some fun oldies. English crowd should be more relaxed with the liquid courage by then. Only a song or two for now.

Dinner with mix of english/spanish.

Come out of dinner with crossover english/spanish song then go into a few more oldies, motown because the older english crowd needs to finally get up. Then go into 70's and disco and 80's before cake.

Cake with "sweet" and "sugar" themed songs" before breaking out the latin music again (since they havne't danced since before dinner but did hear spanish during dinner) and then go into the early 90s for the younger crowd again.

Then getting into hi energy party songs that everyone loves before ending the night.

Remember to post lots of pictures for those of us who will not be there!

I've already got a website made. I included it with our invitations and just gave info about the two of us growing up, how we met, the proposal, etc.....

I also gave a link to the engagement party venue complete with directions and even some local hotel accomodations if needed.

I even included a link to engagement party pics. This page on the site will contain various pics and video clips from the night. Since we are having disposable cameras on each table we're going to have a link to each table on the page so people just have to click the link to see the pics from their own table.

Once the party is over and I get the pics and video on the the site then I will be sure to post the link.

BTW, we will also include the website with our thank you cards as well.

Man, you have thought of everything!

Thanks,

Kirby

I hope so. I know the current site contains a LOT if information about the two of us growing up and our lives together. I'm sure a lot of people didn't even bother to read it. I know I probably wouldn't have.

The site wasn't made to inform everyone about our lives. It was more of a way for the two of US to put down in words our life story and appreciate each other. This especially bodes true on our proposal page where we recount a horrible 2006 where her father lost his job, had a heart attack and died a few weeks later but was brought back and is doing fine now. Then there's her mother who had a knee replacement and then was diagnosed with breast cancer, had both breasts removed and just finished chemo and radiation. Then there's myself who had 3 ER visits with a heart condition. At the end of the year I proposed.

The site was made so that we could see what we've been through in the past few months and be thankful that everyone is still around.

It's Sunday at 11:50pm and my party starts at 7:30pm Friday. I think it's safe to say that my party is the next event to be held at this venue.......

Not that you're gettin' excited or anything... :)

I had to finally break out my 10' truss. Since I got it last spring I've only been using a 5' section to use 2 nova scans, 2 led pars and a sunray. The 5' was fine.

So now that I've got the 10" span going it'll be 2 nova scans, 2 insignia's, 4 led pars, a fatbeam laser, sunray and a gobo projector to show our names on the dance floor. I'm still debating about putting my black light cannon up there.

I can't believe it, I dream't about your party last night :sqerr:

I was in charge of playing one song on a turntable, and two other DJs were doing lights, but we forgot the lights and the record, and got lost going back to your place to get them...

Gotta stop drinking so much beer :sqlaugh:

Nervous and excited.

We were told all along that we would be able to setup the day before the party (today). I was packing my van when my fiance called and said she just spoke to the hall and they have something today and we won't be able to get in till 9:30 PM. WTF? As of Saturday night I was free to go in all day and now I can't?

Being it's my party I'm bringing out all the stops. Music videos, slideshow, uncle singing Sinatra during dinner (with karaoke lyrics on big screen), props and my big light show. It will take some time to set it all up and I still wanted to program my lights as well for the room. So no biggie then. I'll drop my stuff off tonight and do what I can today and then finish first thing tomorrow.

I bought a 10' ADJ crank2 truss last spring but have only used one 5' section so far. That's been fine for all my shows with 2 novascans, 2 led pars and a sunray. This is the first time using the full 10' so I wanted to put it together here and strap it to the roof of my van cause I don't want to deal with tightening it up at the hall. Anyway, I lay a blanket of the roof of my van and place the truss on top. I go to tie the back end to the bottom of the van (2006 Caravan) and find that there really isn't a solid surface to tie it on to. Crap. I finally find something and then proceed to the front. Same story. The front doesnt' have much to tie it onto but I finally find something. Next stop was to open both sliding doors to tie the truss down sideways. I make sure it's nice and secure and it took about an hour to get everything tied down good.

I then proceed to close the sliding doors and WHAM! they don't close. Since I tied everything with the doors open and they are SLIDING doors the string is now blocking the door tracks! CRAP!! I had to end up cutting all the string and then breaking the truss down into 5' sections for transport. Oh well.

Did I mention my fiancee came down with some kind of upper respirotory infection over the weekend. She's been taking meds all week and will hopefully be better for tomorrow. She is doing better already.

Did I also mention that it's been beautiful here for the past 2 weeks or so. We've had temps in the upper 70's and it's been perfect. Perfect weather for 2 weeks. Forecast for my party tomorrow, 50 degrees and rain ALL DAY. Did I mention that we opted out of valet parking? lol

It's at the point where I just want the party to be over with. I have enjoyed planning it and enjoy the anticipation but I also want it to be over with. It's stressful, but it really wouldn't be as bad if we weren't doing the entertainment ourselves. That's for sure. I know this is a lot more involved than ipod brides since we're doing videos and slideshows and lights.

Well, here's the gear lineup for tomorrow's bash.

2 JBL EON's
2 15" RCF subs

Virtual DJ with videos, karaoke (for my uncle to sing 1 song for dinner) and slideshow. VDJ automatically plays the photos when playing an mp3 file and we have 400 pictures!! The pics include just about EVERYONE from the party so you're not just looking at pics of us. Playlist is already set.

Light show DMX
Hazer
crank2 truss
4 led pars
2 novascans
2 chauvet insignias
1 fatbeam laser
1 sunray
1 blacklight cannon
1 Martin gobo projector to show our names on the dance floor

5x7 rear projection screen with 2000 lumen projector

I just received a box of props with glow sticks, blinking led items, black sunglasses, boas, newsboy hats, gangster hats and more.

Total head count 137.

Just got back fromt he hall. Paid the balance, placed the centerpieces and put the custom table markers on each table. I think it looks awesome.

Only thing to do is setup my gear and get dressed!
