If price is ** NOT ** the issue, why aren't you getting booked?

The biggest reason I dont get into the pics bro is that I'm 47 years old and 225lbs an 5' 10". Not that there is anything wrong with that But I had a bride see the one picture I had of myself on my site and she told me she was very surprised because because I look much younger in person than in my picture. I pulled that picture that day. Plus it's all about them and I want my pictures to show that.

Chuck, I'm curious - When was the last wedding reception you did? I have my reasons for asking. I'll post the reasons after I get an answer from you.

In May. I also have one in September.

Alright -

Here's what I want you to do.......and hear me out before you bust my nuts over this.....'cause I know how you feel about the subject....

Go thru ALL your past wedding clients, get their email addys, and then armed with that info, go to your WeddingWire account and send each and every one of them that review email your account affords you. Remember to sweeten the generic email up a good bit before you send it too.

The reason I say this is that in my opinion, ANY advertisement, be it print, online AND especially WOM (word of mouth) referrals/reviews from past clients is a good thing.

Kyle and I were talking about this very subject this afternoon and he was commenting on how all my WeddingWire.com reviews almost seem too good to be true, but he knows they are actual and genuine because he's seen me in action and he has also seen the physical Thank You cards sitting on my desk at home.

And this is not meant to toot my own horn at all, it's just provided as evidence of how much I value my past clients.

You would be amazed at how valuable my professional references and my past clients are to my business. As the original topic of this thread mentioned, do references really count that much?

The answer to that question is a HUGE YES! It's actually been a closing factor in some of my events.

I can't stress to ALL of you that want to elevate your game, how important it is to make physical/face-to-face contact with those banquet folks and/or catering contacts that refer you regularly.

Just sitting down with them for a couple of minutes to talk shop about the state of affairs of the economy, and how it's affected their business/bookings can be incredibly valuable. It tells them that you are concerned about not only your business but theirs too. And you can make this a business trip at the same time by logging your miles traveled, because you can replenish their supply of your brochures.

I offer these simple marketing tips to all of you, only because I am ALL about helping anyone and everyone elevate their game.

These are just my thoughts.........take them for what they are worth.

The 4 biggest reasons I don't get booked (assuming price and availability are not determining factors)

1. I'm too old
2. My facial hair
3. I don't habla Spanish
4. they want someone younger

Arent number one and number 4 the same?

I should just stop talking in the car on the way for walk throughs for my clients... LOL

I have a bad review on weddingwire and i just let it roll though it shows we're only human. However had I read Hanks FAQs i would have had a great rebutt for the bad review on my wedding wire.

Im new to that though and havent had as much time as id like to play with it

Speaking of referrals, though I fear sounding like DJMC--but who doesn't wanna be like DJMC?! :sqlaugh: , my online references and word of mouth are the only things that I know are surely working for me right now. I don't know about my video footage; however, the video footage saves me from having to set up my system for people to preview my services--they get an even better idea from my action flicks!

Johnny, you really crack me up! :) :) :)

and ditto the online (UGC site) references. Beats the hell outta on-site Testimonials (could be faked).

UGC is the buzzword for the new internet. Sites like Yelp & Facebook have become the new Authority sites for reliable information about businesses.

And, Mr K is dead on with the You Tube. His You Tube page is awesome!
