I actually thought the same, but once i ran the numbers it worked out the other way. With the amount of fuel i was using...purchasing the tesla and driving that most of the time costs less than driving my truck everywhere all day. Even with insurance in there. I worked the numbers on a 2 year period, including payment, insurance, tax rebate savings, depreciation, maintenance, etc. Heck, now that cars APPRECIATE rather than depreciate my numbers will look even better. If it didnt save me money on a monthly basis, i wouldn't have bought it. You do have to drive A LOT to make it worthwhile though.
