How about a sticky with ....

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
Just links to our sponsors? That way we have easy access at all times to their sites....

You mean, you don't have us all bookmarked already Son...? :sqerr: :sqeek:

Damn commie... :D

I did have an advertisers page all worked up and coded, I forgot what the heck I did with it. Probably lost in a backup somewhere, I can whip something up I'm sure.

For what it's worth when any sponsor is having a sale or running a special they can post about it, it's not restricted to any one forum.

Sorry dudes, got carried away by the moment... :D

Back a few years ago when I hung out at cigar bulletin boards where they had quite a few sponsors, they had a forum where the individual sponsors posted regular specials, clearance items, sale items, holiday specials etc. The nice thing about it is that it keeps the company name in front of customers on a regular basis, allows the vendors to blow out inventory to make room for new models, promote new items, promote their booth at upcoming shows and so on.

It's best if only the vendors can post in the "Vendor Specials Forum" so that the threads don't get bogged down by tons of questions and comments. Inquiries can be made directly to the vendors by the people interested in the sale items. This is also good feedback for the vendors when people are calling up saying "I saw your special on ODJT", or "I saw your banner" or "I saw that you're a sponsor on ODJT". This benefits both the sponsor and the management of ODJT. They both know conclusively that the advertising is working.

I think there should be a forum where sponsors can promote themselves and post specials.

Isn't that what the section of ODJT they sponser is for?

BTW... I do like the idea of one central location for a banner ad as well as hyperlink.... aside from where they already appear.... it would be much easier than refreshing the page a million times just to get to all my favorite venders. (names purposely left out because they are all my favorite venders)

on a previous site I think the banners rotated automatically without refreshing color me stupid but Im sure it was how it worked. Dan is there any thing in the guts of this thing that allows such a rotation? I also like a Forum for our sponsors sort of like Trade Show Central, ODJT Specials, Door Crashers, etc.

It's certainly possible but Not out of the box, Jon. I had all to do to get Dynacord's flash ad working with this stupid system. Although I paid for the script so I guess I'm the stupid one.

I suppose a little iframe magic would work but I worry about constantly refreshing part of the page. The pages will never appear to load fully to the end user.

On the central page thing; good idea. I put a note in to each of the sponsors late last year asking for a snippet of promotional text, not everyone got back to me so I filled in my own text then don't know what the heck I did with the file. I can probably work up something purdy in under an hour.

On the separate forum thing: I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm just not sure how it fits in with our current 'anything (within reason) goes' take on vendor promotions.

the reason I mentioned the separate forum is because on one of the other large DJ BB I can't find anything about the sponsors other than their banners and if someone mentions the vendor. Certain vendors like NLFXPRO could benefit a lot by having a place where they can post info, teasers, press releases, inventory blowouts, direct product links to their website, promo codes and so many things. This concept could also be a way to attract one or two more quality sponsors OR an opportunity to simply generate advertising revenue from vendors who wish to advertise products and specials in the vendor forum who may not be a sponsor for a particular forum. There are constantly people looking for lighting, rack cases, new speakers, a mixer etc. and vendors who constantly get promotional deals from their suppliers. This is a perfect way to bring them both together and an excellent resource for buyers.
