Help me configure ShowXpress 100??

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
5 minutes, 22 seconds and it dropped. The time it works seems to change every use.

Reading through the manual, says "Windows 64-bit is compatible with Xpress 512 and 512 Plus ONLY" But this manual was published in 2009. Come on, that can't be it. Please don't tell me I need an OLDER, SLOWER, DUMBER computer to run this software, especially when they seem to release a new version every month.

UPDATE: I have changed the settings for the whole program to run in Windows Vista under the Compatibility Settings. Running a new test now....
 
I'm with Joker on this one... if you changed the power settings and it still does it that might be the issue. The Xpress100 is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit. It shouldn't work at all if you don't have the correct drivers. Do you have another computer you can try it on? I am an authorized Chauvet dealer and can help you with the warranty process... but that ultimately will have to fall on the dealer you bought this from. If you don't have another computer, maybe see if they'll swap it for you to try another one?

I took an awful gamble and purchased the dongle on eBay. Never have done a return on that. HOWEVER> In the chauvetlighting forums, I got a response with a link to version 1.04 of the hardware drivers. I deleted 1.03, loaded 1.04 (not just an update) and the lights ran for over an hour. I think this is resolved.

But, in looking through the chauvet forums, is see a pattern of perpetual upgrades, sometimes weeks apart. I am very wary of this long term, because they make clear that they don't service / support older versions of the software. Gosh, do I have to check for updates, install them, import my existing light shows and learn the new changes before EVERY SINGLE GIG? I am just waiting for version 1.05, b, revision iii, subparagraph 2. Updates, in any software, should be rare and meaningful.
 
As long as your operating system doesn't substantially change you should be good, and any minor updates won't affect your lighting data. I upgrade all the time without issues... BUT.. a backup of your shows is ALWAYS recommended. Regarding Ebay... here's the good news. We also sell on Ebay, so we're used to competing with those prices. You can have the best of all worlds, you can buy from us at Ebay prices and get authorized dealer service. Just let me know what you're looking for and we'll make it happen for you. :)

Honestly, I really don't understand the differences and limitations between the Xpress100 and the 512, or even the 512 plus. I have read the stat's and its all jargon to me. I am learning this software with just one 4Bar TRI hooked up.

Right now, I have two 4Bar TRI's, 12 Par64 LED (generics from China), one Adj H2O water effect, one VUE III, one Line Dancer, and several floodlights controlled through dimmer packs. Oh, and a few pin spots on the dimmer packs for a 20" mirror ball. I am strongly considering 2 more 4Bar TRI's

Is my Xpress100 enough for this? Each 4Bar TRI uses 15 channels, and each Par 64 uses 7.

Why would anyone have to comment other than the industry leaders and innovators. OH wait your one of them right? I would have sworn another member would have been the one to post in the way you did. Your truly a Gem.
