From a webmasters prospective, anything with public voting (no registration) is open to abuse, the IT people at Curves have to realize this. IP checks are probably the best measure against vote abuse, although who's to say someone doesn't pop open 30 proxies in the browser?

So, I have to ask why open voting to the public for a contest like this? Why not only registered members? You're just asking for problems.

The vote adjustment just plain looks bad. You're not going to tell me Curves went though the logs line by line and removed votes coming from cell tower based IPs. If you know anything about cell internet capabilities often numerous users, (some times all) from the same tower have the same internet facing IP address.. How was that dealt with?

If you're going to have public voting like this it always turns into who has the most friends, not who's story is most inspiring or best. In this case it would save a lot of headaches if outside of IP checks 'anything goes' was the rule.

My point is that DJs are accusing Rebecca of cheating when she has gone to great lengths to make sure her votes are legitimate.

I believe you have this wrong. It was a teacher who came to this forum and showed a piece of a thread where teachers accused Carrie of cheating.

Its just hard for you to swallow that a miniscule amount of the votes even came from cell phones and that a huge percentage, maybe even 99% of the votes were legit.

Did you not read a little history about Carrie? she's a freakin' prominent businesswoman and entertainer. Why is it so hard to believe she couldn't have a shot at this?

Its also interesting that the cries of cheating are coming from the leader, not the bottom.

what kind of competition is it now?

Can someone look into how the leader Rebecca aquired most of her votes? I bet they are the ones that are up to no good and using Carrie as there scapegoat.

The above is the post to which I was responding.

You are absolutely correct. PTers did accuse Carrie of cheating, and Rebecca apologized for it and asked her supporters not to do it.

It's absolutely possible that Carrie earned her large number of votes legitimately and up until votes were removed, I suspect the majority of PT members did believe that. It's why many helped spread the word about Rebecca to their friends and family and other forums. It's entirely possible even now that there was a glitch, but that does not mean Rebecca is making Carrie a scapegoat for her own nefarious methods.

The only thing Rebecca did was check with Curves to see if cell tower voting was allowed. She was sensitive to potential abuse because of her experience with Angie's votes being removed and did not want this to happen to her. It is up to Curves at that point to determine vote legitimacy and up to Carrie to find out what went wrong with her votes.

At this point, I am finished. I don't even know why I decided to respond in the first place.

Actually you shouldn't have!

And the simple fact is it shows exactly what the curves contest is all about!

Carrie, all you really need to do is feel good about yourself and what you have done!

(you don need no stinkin contest to be #1 baby!)

I lost 75 pounds in a year and I am the sexiest man alive! I don't need anyone to tell me that because it is simply a fact of life, I have to live with the knowledge that every woman wants me and every man looks at me with envy in his heart.

It is a heavy burden but a limited number of us have to carry this heavy load around!:sqwink:

Thanks Steve for your beautiful account of success. Carrie Congratulations your prize is conquering what you have. Screw Curves they seek publicity for your losses. You are a champion.

It was this qoute from page two of this thread on this forum that caught my eye.

I got an email from Carrie! We can vote on cell phones and it becomes a different IP address from cell tower to cell tower I guess. Anyway, she's in 3rd!~)
__________________________________________________ _______________

I have made it to 3rd place. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR VOTES AND KIND WORDS! This is what friends are all about!

I have however found out it's 1 vote per IP address so if you have a phone and your are out you can vote many times all around hitting different wireless connections. The lady in first is way ahead and this must be the way she is getting so many so I say game on. Please forward this to everyone you know.

Thanks again,
Carrie

My friend's brother-in-law is a Curves advertising and promotions manager. So, I've only heard through the grapevine about this contest how it's being monitored.

AS I've said before all these ladies are wonderful and entitled to a fair competition. It does however become a popularity when opened to the public and I agree the voting should have been limited to Curves members.

I've made a personal decision to stay out of it all together now. I won't be voting and I promise not to post on these boards again. After all... I'm a teacher and not a DJ.

The best to all of you,
God Bless,
~Eydie

Stick around Eydie and keep posting. the words you posted were from ONE person. Its not even fair at this point to assume really ANY of the votes were fraudulant.

Now you are telling me your FRIENDs BROTHER IN LAW works for curves?

Gee, which sounds more ridiculous;

1. Knowing the promotions manager.
2. Driving around and voting on cell towers.

The contest is over as far as I'm concerned. But I'll keep voting!

it sounds like someone peed in some cornflakes and alerted the Nazi's to strike. This is ridiculous. Way to go Carrie you are a winner. Even if Eydie or Gromit had some part in slandering your credibility. They have to live with themselves. Like others who cant help themselves when saying I wont post any longer and then do. Shows no form of honesty in itself.

Thanks for voting

Again my daily thanks to everyone on here for all of your support. This is what it's all about. Still have had no answer's to why I am missing my votes and am sick and tired of reading all the psots about me being a cheater. Not one word in the rules does it state that you can not use your cell phone. So I posted this on this group and it was copied and pasted to the competition and blown way out of water. I'm a cheater blah blah blah. Well I'm not even going to bother going there. Anyone that knows me knows that is NOT true. The funny thing is that the cell phone thing doesn't even work because it's only one vote per IP address and I have so many people voting around me that they are all used up! LOL Besides that your right who in the hell would drive around all day doing that? I sure don't have time and if It did really give me alot of votes I would have been winning this whole time right?

Well this whole fun thing I entered has just been such a big waste of my time and the stress that it has caused on me, my family, and my great friends is it really worth it? Yes I have accomplished the most amazing thing here and NO ONE can ever take that away from me. Every contest someone finds something to complain about. The funny thing is that this is why I shy away from Karaoke contest's because you have one winner and the other 9 are pissed then their friends start saying "Oh they new the judges", "Someone is cheating" you get the point it's not any fun anymore. Yes I have an eating problem and the last thing I need is all this trash being talked on me by a whole group of people that I don't even know me. It makes you want to eat to feel better. Now because of this I'm having to work harder to get past it.

This whole thing is so sad and when it's over the people who have had such fun bringing other people down are going to have to live with that. I am still going to stay thin and I have already won this damn thing. I don't need a number of votes to tell me that I'm a winner and that I have people that care about me and will support me in anything I do. I hope that everyone will continue to spread the word for me and keep voting daily. This isn't over and I'm not going to stop trying but the stress of being accused of something I have not done has to stop. One last thing, I am pretty much a "drama" free person and I am so sorry that bringing me on here to ask for votes has brought any kind of drama here to this board. I am so excited to be a part of this forum now and I look forward to new ideas and meeting people.
Thanks again now go vote! LOL
Carrie

Carrie,

Leave the food and the stress behind, realize what it is all about and take the humor in it and have a laugh instead of a cry!

The main thing is what you have done for yourself and your health!

There are many foods that I miss and can no longer touch (because of my health) the benifit was the amount of weight I lost.

Just think of it as what you have done (yes you have done, it wasn't curves it wasn't anything else, only you could make the choices to change your life) have a laugh at those who would make these high school accusations (must be hanging with the kids too much) and let them have their drama! If you don't react they will find someone else to turn it on, even one of their own!

Carrie, you go girl. Good to see you on here!

we'll keep votin' for ya anyway. You are an awesome person and you are right, you aren't a drama queen. believe that folks. she's a bussiness woman full of salt, grit, and sweat.

you've already won the competition. It looks like another contestant lost a bunch of votes as well. Its no longer a contest. Its a farce.

take care sister and God bless all that you've accomplished.
God blesses all the contestants.

JT you are absolutely right...all the contestants are winners.

I found the silver lining and I found a positive note!
