Hi Everyone,
I finally made it on here. I'm so excited to be here. I am overwhelmed by all the great people I have in my life. I have finally accomplished something that has been a problem for me all my life and am so glad I can share it with everyone. As of today I have lost 214 pounds and feel GREAT! This curves contest has been alot of fun seeing everyone vote for me and I just want to thank you all for voting. I hope I can win and share my experience with the rest of the world so keep voting! I have a Karaoke/DJ company in Kansas City and I have been up and running for over 12 years now. I worked for another company for about 5 years and then decided to go on my own. I LOVE IT! I do have a web site if you want to look at it www.carrieoke.com We have several shows all over town and we do about 2 to 5 parties a weekend. I own 11 sytems and have 12 employees. I'm glad to be on here to learn more things and share things I have done.
Thanks again for your votes. And a huge shout out to my friend Jeremiah. He helped me get on this group and has helped me spread the word of my contest. Thank you Thank you Thank you

Welcome to the board.

I would like to wish you well on all of your personal and business success. It sounds like you have solid brand and product in your area. Your advice and experience will be such an added credit to the board.

Thanks for joining the board.

Carrie it was great talking with you just now. Glad that you magically finally were able to post today. Enjoyed a brief conversation. Yes folks she is a true Gem. Thanks for allowing me a few moments of your time.

She was luckier than most as she had to cut me short as her evening show in a pub in Leavenworth was only 10 minutes from starting. Carrie though you dont know it some have been held hostage to my phone calls for a couple hours quite often.

Anyhow welcome aboard and I will continue giving my daily votes and good luck. Regardless of your finish you have already truly won a new lease on life. This in itself is worth more than any other prize.

I told her you'd need at least an hour!

Keep on her Jon. She's one of the best we have for sure. She's not very good at forums. I had to walk her through that post man.....I'm glad she finally arrived!

I just did a quick check!

614 and counting.....

Welcome aboard Carrie! And great job on your new outlook on life. Whether you win or lose, you will always be an "INSPIRATION" to many, many walks of life! Let's get you to first place!

Adam is our club cheerleader and I Rah Rah for ya also Carrie. Hope to speak with you again soon!

There has been some sort of major glitch!

She is currently, according to the poll..3300 votes behind.

The first place leader has 6121 votes, and our friend Carrie has 2821.

I knew there was a reason I was ready to call foul! Arghhhh!

Anyone else seeing this?:sqmad:

Curves is now checking votes coming by cell phones and deleting votes from the same phone number and accepting only one per day. They check periodically. At the beginning of the contest there was a lady that had over 2000 votes in 24 hours. They checked and she had 1800 votes deleted from multiple entries by single individuals. :sqeek:
I don't know if this is what has happened with Carrie or not, she'd have to tell you that... I'm sure she'll be in contact with the Curves contest officials.

These are the rules from the Curves website:

SELECTION OF WINNER:
Contest winners will be determined through public online voting, which will occur on or about July 1, 2009 through July 31, 2009 ("Public Voting Period"). The Entry with the most votes during the Public Voting period will be deemed the Grand Prize winning Entry. The Entry with the second to most votes during the Public Voting period will be deemed the First Prize winning Entry. A maximum of 1 (one) vote per day per person may be cast for any person participating in the public voting. In the event of a tie, Sponsor will choose its favorite Entry from among all tying entrants.

I've read many of the profiles and all these fine ladies deserve to win. I think Curves wants this to be a fair competition for everyone. I'm sure Curves is monitoring the voting for each contestant carefully and will review each contestant before they announce their winner.

Ok so I guess you must be connected to the current leader.

Thanks for the info....:sqconfused:

Im just curious how votes can be determined to being posted by a single person in multiples? So only one person per household?

Eydie is a friend of the rebecca the leader. I'm not sure how she knows that Curves deleted 'multiple votes' or for that matter why they told her that information for telling carrie. Furthermore, I'm curious what kind of IT people Curves has not to verify the rest of the contestant pool. considering the fact there has to be some discrepancies for first place all the way through 1000th place. No way were almost 3000 votes fraudulent. Not a chance.

i posted this on their teacher forum.

"I'm not sure what happened to carrie's votes. kinda wierd. i'm sure double voting represents a small fraction of the extra votes and i'm sure they have occured across the board with all of the contestants. carrie is checking with curves to see what happened. its really frustrating to see that over 2000 votes were taken away with absolutely no data to support it. just vanished.

its as if she's being treated as a cheater or a dishonest contestant. its sad. I talked to her on the phone and she's a bit bummed about it and I just reassured her that this contest and the stress that goes with it just may not be worth it.

last night at one of her regular gigs the bar gave her a 200 dollar gift card to use for the purchase of new clothes after hearing of her successes through weighloss. she's now working 2 miles per day for the last week and can't wait to do more.

What some of you may not understand about her is that she's not 'just a dj'....I am. i'm a teacher and 'just a dj' second. yeah, I voted on my cell phone. crucify me. but no one is wondering around town voting off cell towers. One could quickly conclude that this type of voting would be a PREPOSTEROUS waste of time and gas. think about it.

Carrie is an actual business woman who runs a company with nearly 15 employees and reaches literally 1000's of companies each week. she belongs to numerous chambers of commerce across the metro.

She also has a soul and an emotional tie to her weightloss. She'd like to win this competition fairly as all of the contestants would.

after all, she didn't cheat to lose the weight so she really doesn't need this frustration. I can't believe for the life of me that someone at Curves actually found wrongdoing and arbitrarily removed the votes. I would be interested to see what they came up with. There has to be some IT person to explain this in the end. its nuts to think that HALF of her votes are fraud? Give me a stinkin' break.

Its as if no one but teachers on this planet are smart enough to win a competition like this. Other people network, just some of us have more time in the summer.

she's been out with flyers, fans, forums, phones, walking and talking and all the same tools you have to win this competition. She doesn't NEED to win to make herself feel good, she definitely doesn't need to cheat, and she most certainly doesn't need to be treated as a fraud.

i'm posting this here and on my dj forum where I'm a member, not a moderator. i'm an elementary school music teacher and I have a good friend named Carrie that has been dealt an unjust, unfounded, unproven blow.

again, cheers to all the winners, not just the top 2."

cheers,

Can someone look into how the leader Rebecca aquired most of her votes? I bet they are the ones that are up to no good and using Carrie as there scapegoat.

If Rebecca were up to no good, Curves would have deleted her votes as well.

The timeline of this is as follows:

*Rebecca and Angie are neck and neck.
*Suddenly a significant number of Angie's votes disappear, and Rebecca is in the lead by a large amount. No one on PT knows why, but there is speculation that maybe the votes were not legit.
*PTers keep voting for Rebecca.
*Carrie closes in on Rebecca.
*A PTer finds this forum and says, "Hey, Carrie just told her supporters that you can vote once per cell tower. We should do it too!"
*I and other members say, "Hmmm, that doesn't sound like it's within the rules. Can Rebecca find out before we start doing it? I don't want her to lose all her votes like Angie did."
*Rebecca contacts Curves corporate and is told NO, this is not a legitimate way to get votes.
*She tells PTers NOT to use their cell phones for multiple voting.

There is NO underhanded campaigning going on for Rebecca. In fact, we have gone above and beyond to ensure that she is getting her votes legitimately.

Question 1: Gromit, who are you?
Question 2: Who is Angie?
Question 3: Who are the PTers?

The question still remains.

Who the hell is really gonna drive around voting off different cell towers? Let alone 2000 times?

No one is going to drive around looking for cell towers, but if you're out and about, you might vote when you think of it. A mere 200 people voting an extra 10 times is 2000 votes.

That said, THAT is not the point I was addressing. My response was to the poster who said that we were using underhanded tactics and making Carrie a scapegoat. My point is that DJs are accusing Rebecca of cheating when she has gone to great lengths to make sure her votes are legitimate.

I think Carrie absolutely should contact Curves and ask about her votes. Rebecca received a response from them very promptly, so I am sure they will be happy to speak with her.

Question 1: Gromit, who are you?
Question 2: Who is Angie?
Question 3: Who are the PTers?

I am a member of the proteacher forum on which Rebecca is also a member.
Angie is another Curves contestant, who initially had a significant lead and was in a tight race with Rebecca.
PTers are members of the proteacher forum.

jtnichol has been in conversation with PT members over on that board
