Thanks for sharing but I don't any more now then I did before. Plus it's time for an oil change as well. Also it depends on where the themistate is located in the vehicle. Some are located in around the engine itself and not so easy to get to. Like I said it's best to take it to the pro who knows. You mention how much the items cost and that's not much. But I guarantee you it will cost much more then that if I mess something up and someone else has to fix my mess up.
Do me a favor the next time a potential client contacts you about doing an event for them. Just tell them how they can do it themselves and save some money.

There's nothing hypocritical about it. I gave mix some good, useful information that would easily save him several hundred bucks as well as to potentially save his client from having a no-show DJ. He spit on me as a thank-you. If you don't think that response was warranted then that makes you either blind or a racist. Your choice.
You gave Mix unsolicited advice and when it was not taken you got offended. Your little feelings got hurt so you lashed out with disguised profanity. If he gets a vehicle breakdown on his way to his gig that is his problem not yours. At least he knows his limitations and is willing to have a professional repair his vehicle and not be a Jack Of All Trades. Can I change the oil in my vehicles? Sure, but I let the pros do it, that is their job. Now I see why you all run around a wedding trying to do everyone else's job. It figures! Where does racism enter into this conversation? Snap On, Craftsman or S&K here. I have a come along holding roughly a 1000-1500 pound wall -- it's like concrete on wood.
I have most of my Dad's tools over here, that he put here when he closed the body shop after my uncle died. Dirty as heck, but they still work perfect.
I would also recommend a good pair of Kevlar gloves.
Me, at this age, I would just take it to a local mechanic. When I was at Fred and Shirls, I needed new rotors, pads, and a brake line replaced. $150 total.

Now it's 'your buddies'. I really do like how people are your friends when it's something you like, but they're not your friends when it's something you don't like. Are you a fair weather friend? If you don't like someone's words, you are free to get the admins involved - and I'm certain they will see it, if they haven't already. Some of us do have a life - and some others, not so much (it appears).
We now know your limitations too.
If you get a flat, wait for the tow truck to come - because they are the professionals. You just may ruin your car if you do it yourself. Don't forget to pay well for his / her professional services too.
FWIW, changing a thermostat is NOT a job that one requires a professional for. If it is, then so is changing a flat tire. Also, FWIW - someone paid to change your oil is not a 'Pro'. I know plenty of people that have had their oil changed by the "Pro's" .. and they now have broken cars. I can also say that alot of these "pro's" you speak of are Jacks Of All Trades, so you're really not helping yourself here. You should know what this service entails and how to check it. Otherwise, you have little to no knowledge of how to correct it.
Rick's point was simple - you can fix it yourself rather easily and save yourself time and money - or not. I wouldn't have replied with 'Eff u, loser' but I'm not Ricky - just like I'm not you. I'm certain that the ones that matter here are seeing what's happening and viewing it in the context that it happens.

Things are actually starting to improve.. When I got back things were nuts, so we started by installing one bad ads security system at home which includes an electric fence and wolf pack of German Sjepherds. Haven't had a problem. The Navigator was bought because I was out at very late hours and have to drive in through some bad part of town. Even with all this i'm happy and life has been very very good .

Rick I didn't mean to get you upset. I was just trying to make a point. Now you told me how to fix the problem with the van. You say it's simple and I say I still don't know what you said. I decided that since I don't know how to do it to let the mechanics that I trust and know do the job. We've been dealing with them for well over 25 and they do excellent work!
Now I could try to do it myself and look to save me some money. Now what happens if I either can't do it or mess something up. I'll still need someone else to do it. So rather then take a chance I've decided to let the professional mechanic I've dealt with all these years do the job. I won't save any money but I'll save myself a headache which will wind up in the long run costing me more money then if I just simply take the van to them and let them do it. Sometimes looking to save money can cost you money. You should know that Rick as long as you've been in this business.

I thought because of all my years of experience before it would be easy to do it again. I bought this equipment thinking I knew what I was doing. I couldn't even hook up the equipment because I had forgotten how. I had to get another DJ who is my partner now come over and hook it up for me. Now is that funny?
