I have to say, this is a great learning experience for me, finding out what you folks actually use :)

Based on the telephone calls and emails I get, almost nobody uses AutoMix. I actually threw it in 8 years ago as an afterthought, for when you have to pee, or dinner music.

I will obviously put more effort into that area now... :)

Tell you what...

I'm probably going to keep working in 1024 x 768 since it's pretty common (and what I use).
You get more space in the bigger ones, but that's way too much for my hobbyist brain to handle. You can always do that stretchy trick for the lists or I can extend the carpeted area to the right and bottom?

actually yeah if you could just extend the side and bottom no need for you to do anything with the xml I can make those changes now that I'm getting the hang of it... I just can't do the fancy static graphic.... so if you could provide the larger size without the updated xml i can make that change myself....

I'm working on an extended version based loosely on the DarkGray and Bluemetal skins.... I like the buttons of DarkGray and the layout of the Bluemetal so I'm stitching them together so to speak.... might take me a day or two to turn on the buttons but I will post the finished product...

RICK: I LOVE the AutoMix feature and I will be including it in some form or another in any skin I design or re-design.... you can count on that... why people wouldn't use this feature is beyond me... :sqconfused:

Now, I know why Rick drinks!

I started on my RockIt Hybrid custom skin and just after 2 hours my eyes are crossed. You had to drink to get them to go straight again.

I'm done for the night. Off to the liquor store.....well, maybe I'll send the wifey.

Hey Rob,

You know, you can always go into the Config->General, and turn off the Windows stuff (Taskbar, et.al.)...

Whatever your background is (lets say plain black, no image), is all that will surround Rockit ;)

Just curious...buy why does everyone seem to be eliminating the Request box?

Because they haven't read the Appendixes to the manual ;)

For example, let's say you had Rockit running on your machine attached to the Internet. You give me your IP address, and I can send you requests, that will pop up in your Request list :)

You can also control Rockit remotely -- the commands available (the ones I documented), can do just about any feature that a skin control can, from a 1000 miles away.

I'll pe putting a test client app up soon on the website (mine works fine, but it's not pretty yet) :)

Shhhhhhhhh I'm workin without beer... damnit....

If I could design play, pause, and stop buttons I would do so cause none of the ones within the skins i have hit me as ... wow that's the one i like... know what i mean.

All in good fun and one of those 'cool factor features', but nothing that I'll ever use Rick.

I need drag-n-drop in automix que. :sqconfused: :sqwink: :sqlaugh:

And, that program that will help me build the skins! :sqcool:

You mean you want to drag and drop a song anywhere you want within the Automix que.... how dare ya.... hehehehe me too:sqbiggrin:

I wish there was a drag and drop program that would write the xml file like DreamScape writes html web pages.... would be easier to drag and drop graphics and code .... dreaming out loud here...:sqwink: as I'm still painstakingly re-inventing the wheel to fit my screen

Quick question about the Headers....

This could be because I'm working with the demo version but I can move the column headers but when I shut down and restart the program they do not remain where i moved them... is this a function of the order in which they appear in the XML file or something disabled in the demo version?

If you are talking about the white headers (title, artist, etc.), then "yes", they will stay adjusted in the registered version. As far as I can see, there is no option to change the order, color or text in these fields. Much like when you "frame" something in CSS.

I have slid the indexes over only to reveal the title and artist. I don't like crowded screens.

Ahhh, the headers... :sqerr: :sqlaugh:

No differences between the trial and full version, everything is enabled on the trial :)

Rockit will remember the header sizes, but not the order, as we use that internally for various operations. I just size the ones I don't want to see to a zero width.

As Hank mentioned, the actual header text cannot be modified, although the list text can be. We use slightly tweaked Windows list controls, so you get the header that comes with it... ;)

I'll be experimenting with that for the next update, and see what I can come up with... :)

Don't be sooo quick to say that Randy, as it opens up a lot of potential -- think about it, users can text you requests from their cell phones from the dancefloor, etc..., they automatically get looked up in your library, and popup in your request list ;)

Yeah, that's a cool feature for some situations (night club?). I certainly wouldn't want wedding guests to pull out their phones, PDAs and blackberry during the function.

This is where you need to develop hardware. A remote unit placed on each table?...
but I still think it's impersonal.

I'm not a hardware Dude (anymore) :sqlaugh:

Actually, our Remote Request System does that already -- you supply the hardware though.

RRS doesn't interface directly with Rockit 4's library, but they still work together fine. The new client I'm developing, will be used to interface directly with V4s Comm layer.

Note that although Rockit doesn't currently do Karaoke, it may... ;)

If I put it in, it would be a perfect match for the Comm layer, as the singers could input their choices from a remote station(s), which will automatically feed into Rockit.

Always trying to think ahead...
