GTD Audio M-4500 out of stock-ARGGGG

I was intrigued with this product when it came out and wanted to get one as a backup amp but I never pulled the trigger thinking it would be available. For $159 it was/is a steal considering it's power output, 1 rack space and light weight, but alas, you snooze-you loose. So now I want and need one and I have checked and they have none. I would call to see if/when they will be getting more, but apparently they don't speak much English.

I can wait and see if they get more or look at other amps. They still have a couple M-2500s on ebay/amazon, but it's not powerful enough.

For the "I told you so" people, yes, my Behringer Inuke NU-3000 took a dump after only 6 months and I have to send it in for repairs. Pffft! When I get it back, it goes on ebay.

Should have bought the Peavey IPR-3000 for $100 more. Any other suggestions? At around $400 the IPR-3000 seems like the best deal out there for it's power output and weight. No more heavy amps for me. Gotta be 15 pounds or less.

By the way, it took several tries before I got someone at Behringer's warranty department. They said that since I bought the amp on ebay they were not supposed to fix it, but they would do it this one time. The guy took all my info and was supposed to email me, that was a couple of hours ago so I guess now I have to call them again and go round and round in their telephone system and try to get someone on the phone. Pain in the a$$ . . .

Rick, what about the GTD Audio M-4500? How do you like it? Would you recommend it?

Well, after multiple phone calls to Behringer I finally have an RMA to get the Inuke amp repaired. However, I still needed something for my St. Patrick's gig so I pulled my Bose L1 out of the garage on Thursday and used it for several hours to do some much needed rehearsal and to make sure it was working properly. All systems were go and operational. I used the Bose L1 with one of my EV Sb122 subs instead of the Bose B1 and it was AWESOME! I was surprised and impressed. The overall sound was great and the bass was powerful and sounded very good.

I've had my Bose L1 for around a year and this was the first time I ever used it for a gig. I think I'm going to be using it more often since I do quite a few smaller venues. I was surprised how loud it can go without any distortion. This wasn't a large place, maybe 1600-2000 square feet. Within 20-25 feet it was quite loud, but all the way in the back the sound drops off and people can talk without yelling.

The Bose L1 system isn't cheap, but it works very well and it looks great. I'm sorry I was so skeptical based on the price, but then again I paid a bit less than half of what a new one would cost and really, I doubt I would pay $2,000 for one. I may buy another tower if I can find a used model 1 for a good price. I doubt I will, they go for darn near full retail even for used ones. I really don't need any more gear, I have tons, so unless I sell a bunch of stuff off there is no chance I'll get a second tower any time soon.

Thursday when the amp went bad I had only one EV Zx1 and one Sb122 sub-one to channel A and one to channel B. I did a show Feb 21 with one EV Sx300 and one Sb122 sub on each side and it cranked. I had it up louder than I have ever cranked any system. There was a large Zumba group doing a dance/exercise demonstration as part of the show for about one hour and they wanted LOUD. It was mostly modern latin music, stuff with a great beat, lots of bass.

When the B channel input went bad Thursday I thought it was something wrong with the mixer so I switched out mixers. Then I figured it was a bad cable so I swapped multiple cables in and out. Finally I isolated it to the channel B input. It was kind of hard to diagnose but I figured it out through the process of elimination.

Thanks SpinCin. I should have gotten one back when they were going for $149. It's worth that just to have as a back up. I did a search back around the time I started this thread and I found an auction that ended on ebay for the M-4500. I sent GTDaudio a message telling them that I wanted an M-4500 and asking when they would be available again. They never replied, nothing. I'm disappointed that no more are available and who knows when or if any more will ever be available. It's perfect for what I do and the price is right, so if it comes around again I'll snag one.

One good thing that's come out of this is that I used my Bose L1 PAS. The Bose worked great and I was very pleased. Behringer has authorized repair of the Inuke amp and the authorized repair center is here in my area so I will be taking it in on Monday.

First, yes drzinc, I should have ordered the M-4500. It was a great deal and if they ever get more I'm sure they will be more expensive now, so I'm giong to pay the price for my procrastination. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes, but I'll still get one because one rack space for that kind of power for under $200 is amazing. I didn't order one because I never expected the new Behringer amp to take a dump and I was trying to conserve cash.

As for the Behringer Inuke NU-3000, it's only 6 months old so Behringer DOES have an obligation to me to repair or replace the amplifier. I contacted the company that I ordered it from-Unique Squared- and they are an authorized Behringer dealer so it's Kosher. I have a receipt showing that I bought the amp from them with the date, company logo, shipping date etc. I asked Behringer what is the warranty period and they told me NOW they are giving a three year warranty. I don't know what products that applies to or if it's even true, but that's what I was told.

I'll be taking it Monday to the authorized repair center specified by Behringer which happens to be a local company.

Two of those amps in one rack would be cool. You would have enough horsepower to run 4 tops and two subs, even four EV Sb122 subs. You would also have a backup amp right in the rack if you normally run just 2 tops and two little subs like I do. AND it would be very economical, two amps for $300 something. I'm all over one of those M-4500 if they every become available again.
