hey dude i was just thinkin to myself that if ur lookin 2 get ur buisnesses name out there dude i could talk to sum of my friends and if ur willing to dj a few parties this summer for free or not much cash they would prolly let u pass out buiness cards and **** like that cuzz i know there will be sum big parties this summer and a dj would be a lot cooler than just a stereo and it could help u get more clients!! well let me know wut u think about that dude! ttyl

If I DJ a party for my friends, the pay the price. Plain and simple. If they get pi**ed off and don't talk to for awhile, or if ever again, they were never my "friend".:sqwink:
 
I will give a friend or a repeat client a discount. I do not automatically expect or assume to get their business. Lets face it, getting a client/new gig in the first case is a great percentage of the work. So if it falls into my lap, I show my appreciation by giving a discount. Its usually a walk in the park because we know each other.
Now for those who come with the story that if I DJ for free i will get gigs from them down the road I will counteract with Are you also getting the Electricity, Beverages, venue, food etc for free? If you can pay those folks why not pay me too!
 
Let you pass out your cards so you can get some more "FREE" or "NOT TO MUCH CASH" gigs from them. You know everybody will want the same cheep price.

Yeah!! Those parties are GREAT!!! NO, Or Little cash...And then the people
who threw the "party" Cannot keep there damn mouth shut......About how cheap the dj is!


So, All your doing is a cheap ass party. And all you get in return is more non-paying or cheap ass referrals for more "party's"

You guys are missing some key benefits to this type of promotion.

First, you could get a free name check in the paper if you become friends with the person who types up the police reports. "Sheriffs shut down a party in the 300 block of Maple Street...DJ 'YOUR NAME HERE' was rocking the house. Everybody throw their hands up! Multiple persons were cited for providing alcohol to minors. DJ "SO & SO" will be performing next weekend at another house party (location TBA)...provided he/she is bailed out of jail by then."

All of the high school and college kids...not to mention 30-somethings who are are unemployed and on drugs...will be calling you for their next (unpaid) gig!

Second...it's a great chance to get your equipment covered in spilled drinks and vomit. Every good DJ needs their gear to smell authentic. If you *smell* like a good party that is half the battle right there.

These are just off the top of my head...

I'd be more than happy to play a few parties, but instead, how about we just play a game?

I'll play the first tune for .01 but every track doubles in cost, or you can pay me my normal rate.

I asked some actual businessmen if your suggested business plan would benefit my business and they suggest that you are simply trying to give me the business...and not in a good way.
