Both came in this morning I booked them this afternoon at top rate and up sold a projector and screen on one of them.

The interesting thing is I've had the free listing there for 2 years or more this is the first two I have ever been sent

wedding.com sucks. Scam. Lots of fake, phony couples put into the database there.

For Eventective...I gave up on that site a long time ago. ...They use to be more prominent here in Maryland back in 2010 - 2012. I use to see many more leads. They don't show up on google first page so not many prospects go there ...They use to be like the old school Thumb Tack, lol. ...Thumb tack kicked them out in this area. With that said...I still see a Eventective Lead come through to my inbox like once a month. I actually got 3 in the last month...but I delete them. Not worth the money on those leads...I get enough leads from Gig Masters, and my Google Ad at this point any way.

You pay for Eventective leads? They sent me all the info on these clients for Free

That is interesting...why would they do that? I assume it is because your area is slow, and they hope to entice you to pay for more?

In my area the leads cost $2.50 each. They are crappy leads. My sister booked two off eventective years ago. I can't say I ever booked eventective leads...I spent about $120 on the site back in 2011. That site, and respond.com went off the way side in my area though. There was another one called decidio.com. ...They send me like 2 leads a year at this point. Those sites just don't have the exposure or backing behind them any more to get on higher rankings on google to get leads these days.

There is only myself and one other listed that isn't really local he's based 300 miles away so maybe that's it I guesss

Has anybody here tried Wedding.com? I did the free sign-up and could never find pricing for leads. I just got my first "match" email yesterday and it was saying the leads were "3 credits", whatever that is.
Back in 2013 I was a paid member of wedding.com They had an offer that if you do not get a booking in 6 consecutive months, you get the next 6 free. Well no bookings in 9 months. I reached out to over 60 couples looking for a DJ through wedding.com Only 1 couple responded saying they had already hired a DJ Service. Took some haggling but ended up getting my money back. I honestly believe most of the prospects were not genuine.

Eventective is $2.50/lead for me too. Mixed results but for $2.50 can't really go wrong.

Yes you can if you don't get anyone to book you to be their DJ. Some sites just take your money and run. They promise you something and deliver you nothing.

At $2.50 a lead if you book 1 in 25 you are still in a lot of money. There is a cost of doing business and getting business. If, and it's a big if, you could book enough through there it's a bargain.

I got to say though I do like free a lot better ;)

I've found that most of the referral clearing houses are a joke. I've paid for several credit packs over at thumbtack and never booked a single gig. After years of badgering, I took a shot with gigmasters. What a waste. In 3 months I've received 4 leads....the events were anywhere from 300-600 miles from me.

I don't know much about it but isn't there a way you can narrow down the geographic area?

Could be because you are new on Gig Masters.

I have booked over $41,000 in gigs through Gig Masters since 2010. It's been a viable source of booking events for me. I believe thumbtack sucks though. ...Other DJs have had some success with thumb tack, but I hate the platform, and how it works.

What that is. You spend money to get credits to use to contact the people making the listing. Without you spending money to buy credits you can't contact any of the listing that might be available. They allow only 5 vendors to contact a listing. After that you must move on to a listing you can contact. I had a listing there but shouldn't have because right now I don't have a website online. I used to but still need to work on the new one.

Sorry, I fail to see how being "new" only gets me leads hundreds of miles away. I paid my money, like any other customer. Sounds like you're telling me they stole my money....and all the local leads go to only long standing customers. If that's the case, they're as sleazy as I believed.

I'm afraid that is going to be the issue with all the online directories. You are late to the playing field with Gig Masters, and it will seem like a very slow crawl to get bookings on there.

Look at Wedding Wire. They talk about how getting as many reviews as possible is very important. Well, if you are new, you can get reviews, but while you get reviews, the DJs who have been on Wedding Wire for years and years have hundreds of more reviews, and will continue to get more and more reviews. ...The new guy will never get ahead and place high on search results if they are in a area where there are many other paid advertisements with lots of reviews already.

Also, it could be that your area doesn't attract many gig masters prospects on the internet. ...My area Gig Masters is #3 on 1st page of google. I am also in the top 7 DJs in the area all the time. ...I get a lead every day...A slow week would be 4 leads. A good week can be 10 to 15 leads...all within 100 miles.

I had 2 leads on Thursday, 1 lead on Friday, 1 on Saturday, and 2 leads came in today off of Gig Masters. Quoted all of them. I actually just booked a wedding through Gig Masters last week. However, I have also been on there since 2010, and have over 70 bookings through them.

Coming on now as a new comer would be tough with so many DJs already on there with so many reviews in my area.
