And what happens when the laptop locks up or sh!@s the bed?

I still carry my CDs in 5 big Binders all stored in a crate which remains in the van, just in case.

That may be true, but how do you cue your music to be played (not the song playing) when you only have one output from the Laptop?

Other than for software testing, I probably haven't cued a song in 15 years or so... :)

I'm lazy -- I always pre-mixed my sets at home, and dropped them to big MP3 files. Press play, and go out and have fun working the crowd, for 25 minutes at a time :)

Hey, I'm lazy to. I'd like to do that but most times I just don't know what the croud wants. They seem to be so different and some even demanding to play their requests now. Not when the set is over.

The crowd wants whatever I give them... ;) :D

Requests, HAH! Twenty bucks will get you to the front of the line, and maybe played at some point in time...

I have XP SP2. My Gigaport will only function correctly if it is plugged into the same USB slot as it was in when I installed the drivers.

If I start my DJ program without the Gigaport plugged in, it will reset all the channel assignments to 1&1 (the headphone out). I have to manually re-assign all the outputs the next time I start the program with the Gigaport plugged in.

Beyond that, I have more than four years of trouble free use.

Gigaports are sooo much fun, I could just shi... :sqwink: :sqlaugh:

The reason they won't work properly on a hub, is because they draw too much power.

So, I unplugged mine, and after it warms up tomorrow, I will drag my sorry butt downstairs, grab my meter, break the stupid thing open, and measure the current draw.

Anybody willing to take bets on why the garbage screws yer system up (besides their crummy drivers)...?

Use what ya like -- but, my bet is, trash is trash -- even worse, when it's overpriced trash... :sqwink:

Gigaport Problem solved.

I dunno what happened but the darn thing started working again on its own. I plugged it in again to mess with it and lo and behold its was like nothing happened. Strange! Computers have minds of their own I tell ya!

Gotta watch them computers Houston -- they can read what you type :sqerr: :sqlaugh:

Poor Rick, don't you realize if you supported Gigaport cards you would have so many more new friends

Or you just want to drink and bang on your drum all day ?

With all those new "friends" calling me for support -- I wouldn't get any work done, nor have time to bang my drum :sqwink:

BTW, my software works just dandy with Gigaports -- just doesn't support the ASIO driver part

In all fairness about support, I had sent a request to ESI for help and a dealer in Kansas had replied to me. What he had suggested I had already done. Like stated before the Soundcard or laptop or both decided to act right again.
