Gigaport question - What outputs are left and right?

Unplug one, and find out...
Usually things go left to right, except in certain countries which don't speak English. Since it's labeled in English, I think you could probably figure that in the 1/2 pair, 1 = left, 2 = right. So, odd numbers are left, evens are right
If you want to find out for sure for a warm and fuzzy, put on Reason To Believe - Rod Stewart -- the first 14 seconds approx., are all on the left channel.
The output pairs of the Gigaport are 1-2 (and the headphone jack), 3-4, 5-6, 7-8.
I use the "red" output as the "right" channel.

Even numbers are usually Right Channel ("positive/red") and odd numbers are usually Left Channel (negative/white or Grey).
So...USB to computer; Ch 1 to Mixer Input Left and Ch 2 to Right.

Ya know Ed, if you were to use those $30 Behringer sound cards, you wouldn't have this question.
I was skeptical at first, but I think they sound better than a Gigaport.
Rick mentioned something about the Gigaports having not a true flat output...almost pre-equalized.

Anyway, I have both of the Gigas (AG & HD), and I don't really like them. They're too harsh for my ears, and obviously pre-amped. Some people like that though -- they think if it's louder, it must be better quality or something...
I think they just end up making your equipment clip and distort. YMMV...
I use one or two Berry's on my DJ rigs (depending on what I'm trying to accomplish), and the HRT Streamer on my tube system in the Man Cave

So, does that mean that since right is even and left is odd, left handed people are odd?
My wife is left handed. She alway says, "Everyone was born right-handed, but only left-handers overcame that handicap." LOL
I have two of those berries. And yes, they sound decent. But since I use the sampler, I would like to have three - but all three don't seem to play nice together. But this was on a lappy.
Unless I use them for left and right deck and the HD built in for VDJ's sampler/utoob and stuff. A project for the backup rack mount since I got everything all nice n tidy in the case.

Funny you mention the clip and distortion. Sometimes it seemed like I was chasing audio anomalies (distortion at times) and overdriven (modulated).
Yup - must test this on my backup rack mount rig. Then I will need some more berries.
This is what I have trying to say. The Behringers are fine for those who use Mono output or Internal Mixing with one pair output and headphones. Once you start using multiple decks and sampling etc, then you will need more than one Behringers and thus have to utilize more than one port. You end up with too many attachments which can jiggle.
Isn't that what boobies are for...?
Anyway, practically speaking, your average wedding/party DJ, does not need multiple outs to the mixer. All mixing can be done on the software, and the sampler is simply routed to the same output, so you have a seamless mix out to mains (one channel on the mixer).
Your particular software, does not handle multiple sound cards well -- which is understandable, since they would like to sell you their hardware as well.
Most times I use a single output -- one Berry for mains. I do the mixing on the software, and am not concerned much about cueing. I've already practiced enough, to know exactly where I want the song to come in. I can pull in sound effects or loops at any given time, using the same single out to mains.
It's not Rockit science to rehearse your show...
