The new laptop is not working correctly with audio and I'm returning it. I'm looking to purchase one of these:

I'm not sure which to choose. The one is 64 bit Vista but has a lot better processor and memory. Is Vista 64 that much worse? What effects will I see from it with DJing? Compatability? Why do people say to stay away from Vista 64?

And yes, unlugged from the socket and computer. Its not a ground loop.

Couldn't see yer links Stew -- got an error from both of them...

Vista 64 -- best thing since sliced bread

There are a few older programs that won't run on it -- but that is not the fault of the OS (just lazy programmers who use code designed for DOS/Win 95).

All I can say, is it flies like an eagle, and I have yet to crash it -- and I can be pretty mean to an OS ;)

I built Rockit 4.2 on V64, and I would never go back to XP at this point in time -- too slow, and it crashes too much.

Can't say for sure how VDJ handles V64 -- you might want to check their forums on that...

If it were me, I'd go with number 2, even though it has a smaller screen.

It has double the L2 cache, 4 GB RAM, and most importantly, an eSata port!

You can always plug in a bigger monitor :)

That is what I was thinking of choosing. Same price, a lot better specs, only it has Vista 64.

Since my Gigaport HD drivers only support 32, if I use ASIO4ALL (which supports 64) would it be able to use all of the Gigaport's outputs?

Can't help ya on the ASIO stuff Stew -- do a search, I think Cap and somebody were having a discussion recently here on those drivers, regarding VDJ.
