I have to admit, if you can spare the cash, the K12 is a SUPERB speaker. IMHO, those units will do 90% of my gigs without a sub. I've done several gigs with only my K10s, but when I need to push them, the bottom end just doesn't punch hard enough. The QSCs are an excellent piece of gear. I'd love to be able to justify a new set of the .2s.

That's easy...Get rid of your old BOSE stuff that sits on the shelf most of the time, take that money that you made by selling it, and put it into a set of QSC K12.2! Also, sell any old lights that for sure make you no money whatsoever to add to the pile of cash you will have...Aren't I smart!

Yea but then I have to deal with wife, nagging me about selling "her system".

She's a photographer now .. she doesn't get to have a system ... :)

It ALL belongs to her. How long have you been married again? ;)

FWIW, I did send Cap a private message to see what I could get out of that system. It sure would be nice to get a pair of k12.2 for my main rig.

Just don't tell her and then convince her later it was her idea ;)

My wife reads minds and is omnipresent. She's much smarter than me and there's no way I could pull it off. You're a better man than I.

In all serious-ness, I did just list that Bose unit on local craigslist for $1750. Not sure if I can get that but, if I do, I'll sneak it out and buy some K12.2s with the cash. I think she'll eventually forgive me.

They all are and I never said it would work for me I just suggested you try it and if it did work then I might ;)

I too recommend taking the speakers back get the altos if at all possible with your budget they are the best of the low end speakers out there
...OR .. One can get the EV ZLX 12p for $301 ea, or the Yamaha DBR12 for $389

I think the sales person at Guitar Center talked TTim into buying them. Most of have had buyer remorse over speaker purchases. My first powered speakers were about $600 each, Mackie srm450s 17 years ago. That's one reason I can't believe there are quality powered speakers for under $200 now days.

SRM450s were MY first powered speakers as well (though only about 10 years ago) ... :) Before that I had Yamaha S115 IV and JBL MP215 speakers.

I agree,,,, the Altos would be about the lowest end that I would invest in! Right now they are 250a peice! I paid 225 for mine and they are certainly worth 250a piece. They have paid themselves off on doing wedding ceremonies! At 100bucks add on. The better thing about that is that I can leave them up in the chapel until I am finished the reception. I don’t worry about them as much. I would never leave my new 12.2’s AANYWHERE that I am not looking at them!

I agree with this, for a secondary set, aka ceremony set, I think the Alto's are a good fit, or when you just dont need to bring your A-T...setup

Having a $10k sound system I will be the first to say your sound system is NOT a selling point. But yes the perception factor is there especially since I use column style speakers.

To the original poster... find a budget you’re comfortable with and get the best you can in your budget. If your budget is not far off from the next level... take the leap and get something better. You never know what your future holds in terms of necessities.

If you want my opinion... try and find some leftover new qsc k12’s for cheap and 1 kwsub... otherwise get two good quality 15” tops that can handle the output that you need with no issues.
Hey, Taso. Which column array speakers are you using? Look and sound nic and clean. Thanks.
