So far 6 events cancelled or postponed, another likely by next Wednesday.
Maybe he caught the virus mid-reply ...Did I leave you speechless Bob LOL
My concern is what about those who do this full time and don't have another source of income?
All that posting for nothing. Guy called me up planning on having that event this coming Sunday and the club is closed down until further notice. My friend was surprised to be playing there tonight and a job on Friday in the basement of the club. That kills that including me possibly getting a chance to play there on Sunday. Friday's event was to help raise money for the church one of the managers belongs to. My concern is what about those who do this full time and don't have another source of income? What will they do going forward? This thing is going to cost a lot of people money and some businesses to go out of business because they aren't making any money. This thing is getting to be real scary.
I have 7 events over the next 8 weeks (focusing on 8 as that's what the CDC said)... all of them are definitely rescheduling. As the president speaks now, he is saying that this may go all the way till July or August... that will be a major issue.
Ohio shut down bars restaurants yesterday. We are pretty well stocked up on essentials but went to grocery store giant eagle to get a few thing. they were out of lots of stuff, but then went to meijer’s and they had much mor. Gas station at meijer wasn’t crowded.Well, PA just shut down ALL bars and restaurants, schools, casinos and 'non essential businesses'.
I was out today on a 90 minute each way trip to get a car...needed to take a leak. NOTHING was open...found a gas station with a restroom - I was 5th in line there.
Stopped at walmart on the way home...
Eggs? none. Potatoes, lettuce? none. Flour, bread? none. Rice? none. Canned beans of ANY kind? none. Peanut butter? nope. Chicken? outta luck. Toothpaste? almost none. TP kleenex and such? very very little. Wipes and sprays for cleaning? None.
And it was busy like christmas eve in there.
I do 40% of my annual sales in april/may with sports photography...I'm hoping this is over by mid april, but I'm fearing it may not. And even if it is...will folks be spending like normal with all this bad economic juju right now?
And I was a "panicking half glass empty " guy just last week!
The Wedding and event industry is in for a MAJOR disruption. Those that deny this don't rely on this industry, or work in the industry very little.
I haven't been panicking, even as a full time guy, becuase of a couple of reasons. One, I didn't have many events during this time period. May is a different story. Second... all of these events will postpone, and today 3 already chose a date I'm available for. The other part is I always take extended periods off each year, so have properly budgeted for time off. This year it seems that by force that my time off will be now... and the time off I had planned will be filled with postponed dates. Lastly... I'm still booking new parties, so income is coming in.It's going to affect FT worse than PT but when you are self employed there you usually have a contingency fund in place in case of something like this happening hopefully that is the case
We don't know that .. there are multiple test reports (at least 3) waiting to be received before those folks are cleared .. If Greenland has it, W VA probably does too.I live in the only state without any form of outbreak....
"Go to the grocery stores. For crying out loud, go to the grocery stores. If you want to go to Bob Evans and eat, go to Bob Evans and eat," he said Monday. "If we get to the point in time where we've got to close the grocery stores and drive a truck around and whatever and bring groceries to people and everything, we'll do that."
It's not just the testing part .. a lot of folks may assume it's just a cold or the regular flu and just don't present themselves for testing.lol... our governor is a dope...much like the countries leadership...my comment is the response of the people... the local arenas and civic centers....the stores...churches ...etc...who have taken proper measures without needing to do so at gunpoint from govt... When you live in the mountains... you simply dont look to fat men in suits to decide your every move and thought...
And you are probably right about the possibility of us having it in some form... i cant deny that....another fault of the leadership having no clearcut way to test all who need tested
A rumor actually went around that we had it as early as november and it was treated as flu
who knows.... but any comment ive made is based on what im seeing in my day to day

Not so sure .. I know when I had the flu earlier this year, I was at Dunkin Donuts a mere couple days after starting to feel better. And no one panicked ..I can see the truth in that... however they must be at the very least taking the measures to self quarantine... as spreading it seems quite easy.
If they are finding cases in montana and wyoming... surely they would find something here if they could...

Let's give it until the end of the week, when you'll have a half dozen cases ...So apparently we are the only state to just get it... and get over it... an no one is the wiser...lol...there may be a lesson in that
